Hey guys, just thought i would post this as it stumped me when i first came across it.

I tranferred my music on my pc to my w800i using the disc2phone software. I went outside to catch a bus back to my parents, its a long 45mins journey so i thought i would just listen to my music. I got outside and pressed the walkman button and the standard music tones on the phone were playing, i thought it was just because i had shuffle on, so i press the vol - button to skip the track and then it played the other standard files.

I went into the walkman menu and into artists and tracks etc, it was displaying the files names of the songs and artists but it wasnt letting my play them,i thought maybe i had deleted the tracks by mistake using the disk2phone software, so i settled for the radio instead.

I got back to my parents and was showing of my new phone to my brother and sister in law when my bro asked me to take a picture to see the cam quality, i opened the lens and got an error message saying memory card not available. I began to worry since my music wasnt playing and now the camera wasnt working.

I turned the phone off and on again and then the camera worked fine as well as the walkman.

Anyone else had problems of the same sort?

Its not a bug or error in the phone

Its normal behaviour if you didnt disconnect the phone properly when you disconnected it from the computer.

When connected to the computer, the computer takes over control of the memorycard inside the phone and you cannot access the memorycard with the phone. When you disconnect it from the computer, the phone again takes control and you can access the memorycard.

Depending on how your computer is configured and how you disconnect the phone, sometimes the phone does not receive the disconnect information from the computer, and still thinks its connected thus you cannot access the memorycard without doing a restart of the phone. When the phone cannot acces the memorycard, it cannot see the files you put on it, and the camera cannot save pictures on it.

Typically this behaviour can happen if you turn off the computer before disconnecting the phone, or if your computer is not configured for "safe removal" of removable devices and you just pull out the cable without using the "safely remove hardware" function.

You'll get the same error if you have the phone connected to the computer via the USB-cable and open the lens cover.

It's alittle anoying as one cant access bookmarks etc on the card while the phone is in the sync station and connected to the computer...
