Dear : the whole world
i recently encounter this when i play some of my software CD,the messages i got are :

1)Director player error
out of memory even after purging all purgeable castmembers

or

2)Director player error
there is an illegal castmember[member 194 of PLAYER-CAST]in this movie

or

3)Director player error
problem reading compiled scripts(-45)

and i have visited microsoft and macromedia web sites for the solutions but can't find it(or i don't know where to find it)...pls help

Hi, I work with Director and might be able to help you with your problems. What's the file extension (.dir, .exe...). Also, which platform are you using? Is this your workfile or just some woftware that you'd like to run?

MarkOng,the file extention is exe and i am using win98se,the problem occurs when i am trying to run some software CD and i believe there might be some conflict between shockware and quick time

I can only think of these few reasons:

-As you've mentioned, clash between quicktime and shockwave.

-Hardware conflict which you need to do a full overhaul of your hardisk. (I'm expriencing this problem now.)

-Incomplete .dir file or Lingo error in the original .dir file that didn't get resolved before exporting as .exe

hardware failure? i don't think so as i bought it this year and when it happen i can only open the CD file manually...

and if it is software side,how to fix it...THANK!

What software is that? Hardware conflict can occur on any system, old or new. Its due to the clash in some drivers or at times, video cards. I'm not to good on the hardware side but I'll see what I can do.
