Hi just got a W800i on O2 and want to use the email faciliites. I've been to the SE website and downloaded the settings for the WAP and MMS and they work fine. But the Email settings don't seem to work, I'm using the actual 02 email address you can access online (smtp@o2.co.uk) as the email account.

When I try and send an email it takes a while and then comes back with "username/password incorrect" but they aren't wrong, i've triple checked.

Can anybody help.

hi and wellcome to esato!
I'm not an O2 expert but I would like to suggest you to contact your service provider and ask them.
I'm on Vodafone and, due to a tecnical problem, I have to use a different pw to check my email on internet than from vodafone pop3 server.

Good luck.

I spoke to O2 and they said the settings should work and that someone would get back to me, i'm still waiting.

I find it odd that it says I have the wrong username/password, surely this means it is connecting to the right server at least?

Sure. It looks like a server has been reached... But not necessarily the right one!
Just a useless joke.
By the way, what is the meaning of the email address you have posted? What does it mean 'smtp'?
It cannot be your accoun/address...

Hi RichardC8. Your Username is not your email address right? Smtp.o2.co.uk should be your outgoing mail server. Can you tell me who your email provider is?

The settings seem to be correct.

By the way, the pw is referring to the pop3 account, not to the smtp, that is granted by a connection identifier (you can send the message without the account, is the phone that is identified by the server).

As I've wrote to you, I had the same problem with Vodafone. Due to an internal error, the pw that I'm still using on the HTML mail service (my Vodafone logon under www.vodafone.it) does not work if used with the pop3 server.
The pop3 pw is the same that was automatically generated when I've registered my account. Months ago I've changed my profile on the HTML Vodafone site, setting up a new pw, that now works from Internet only, but does not work on the pop3 server.

Did you tried to use the pw that O2 sent you by sms/email when you have registered?

Tried that, as i did change the generated password and thought it might take overnight to update.

All I can think is that its not O2 GPRS another from the list ie. O2 Mobile web or o2 WAP GPRS.

I have tried activating TLS/SSL and it asks for a domain name. What do I put in there?

When I try to connect the server can not be found. All the setting are correct too.

Hi,i am not expert in this, but i would like to add. 'pop' to the incoming server address. It should be like pop.mail.o2.co.uk i have set up both yahoo and gmail pop account on my 6630.I simply use it successfully on the first attempt.Enjoying the gmail and yahoo on the phone's internal email client.

Both pop3 and smtp addresses are correct, even if they are redirected, using PING command from a PC.

Did you try to use your original pw, even if it does not work from internet anymore?
