For Gmail users: I have set up a Mini-HOWTO with links to the certificates that you need.

http://orka.mine.nu/pub/gmail/

For those wondering why it stopped working a while ago it was because gmail switched certificates. Currently they use two separate certs - one for sending (SMTP) and one for receiving (POP). You need to install two different root certs in your phone to be able to do both.

Sorry for cross-posting. There seems to be so many people having problems with this.

Tried to send it with SendFile (christersson.org)? I did it with my IrDA.
If anybody gets problem "TLS/SSL handshake failure" then set Encryption > Incoming Server > TLS/SSL > Domain to "pop.gmail.com" and Outgoing Server Domain to "smtp.gmail.com"

Hey thanks ruffnux, your guide helped me point out the only ONE step i was missing .. of course it was a pretty crucial one .. darn ..i forgot to ENABLE pop3 from withing my GMAIL account settings ..

so all of you, who are doing everything ok and still cant get this thing to work .. make sure u have pop3 enabled from the ur gmail account settings i.e. set to 'enable pop3 for all mails'.

Hi all, new guy here!

I have a problem when connecting to gmail with my phone's own client (W810i). Everything work fine but that damn "not trusted certificate" is anoying and doesn't let me use the automatic feature. Where can I download the appropiate certificate?

Edit: I ask this beacouse I don't know if the certificate I need is THE ONE for my network provider. If that's the case, I'm screwed... if it's generic for gmail then... where can I get a working one?

Thanks a lot in advanced,

Hello there,

I have been having problems with the Gmail java app and not being able to access my inbox due to not having the correct certificate installed, so after some web and soul searching I found the missing link.

Typing www.verisign.com/cgi-bin/support/rootcert/getrootcert.cer directly in the phone’s web browser and it will install the needed certificate.

It worked for me and I hope it works for you

Someone pin that previous post. This is the solution for the k750i problems with the gmail client.

I had downloaded all sorts of certs before and sent them to my phone to no avail. I tried this using the embedded browser (not Opera) and now Gmail app works fine. The Gcalsync app works as well too!

Big props to you, man!
