Hi Guys try this out

Download the file from

http://www.verisign.com/support/thawte-roots.zip

Extract the file thawte.zip and look in for ThawtePremiumServerCA and send it through to bluetooth it will work fine.

Use the the Object Push option under bluetooth services to transfer the certificate.

prabu thx .. i managed it with object push ..but i also needed geotrust certificate so for all that still have a problem with the certificates download from here : http://free-ftp.org/free2smoke/cer.zip are 3 files inside the zip ... use object push to install them on your phone and gmail should work

Just set this up on my phone K750i and to update the thread:
I'm on o2 Contract and you will need the Equifax cert (from here) https://www.geotrust.com/reso[....]cure_Certificate_Authority.cer and the Thawte premiumserverca (from here) http://www.verisign.com/support/thawte-roots.zip

You can carry on with the smtp.gmail.com to send aswel you dont have to have smtp.o2.co.uk. Here is the full list of how to set up data account and e mail account on o2.

Scroll to settings/connectivity/Datacom/Data accounts;
Scroll to New account
Select GPRS data;
Enter name for account: Gmail
Enter the APN as mobile.o2.co.uk
Enter the userid as o2web
Enter the password as: password
Press save;
Goto Messaging/ Email/ Settings/ Account settings/ New account;
Account name; Gmail
Connect Using: Gmail(which we created earlier)
Protocol: POP3
Incoming Server: pop.gmail.com
Incoming Port: 995
Encryption: TLS/SSL
Mailbox: Myaccount@gmail.com (your name @ gmail.com)
Password: Mypassword (your password)
Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing Port: 465
Email Address: Myemail@gmail.com ( your name @ gmail.com )
Download: Headers & text
Copy Outgoing: Off
Check Interval: Off

Any questions pm me

I've tried to install the certificate using the USB cable and the SoneEricsson File Manager. When I try to drop it in the root folder of the phone, it simply says "Unable to copy - the operation is not allowed by the phone."

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Try one of the other directories. There are two 'root' directories both with different icons in the file manager. One looks like a hard drive, the other looks like a folder and one is reached by double clicking on the other.

Try both, I can't remember which is correct.

Thanks Gren!!! You da man! Dropping the file onto the top one did the trick!

So now I can retrieve my e-mails from Google. I'm still having problems sending e-mail though. The phone gets stuck displaying the message "Sending e-mail" (it finds the server and everything) until I press "cancel".

Have anyone else had this problem?

Hi!
I dont manage to install any certificate (neither Equifax_Secure_Certificate_Authority.cer nor thawtepremiumserverca.cer) with the usb cable (dont have bluetooth on my computer). When i copy it to the root foolder everything works and i get the option to save it or view it (and it looks just like the other certificates), but when i search for it in internet settings/security/trusted cert it will have "No label", it wont be viewable and it will atomaticly be removed
I actually never managed not getting the TLS/SLL unknown cert auth error.
The phone was bought in sweden without any branding etc. Ive tried with both vodafone prepaid and tele2comviq and i have no problem using gprs with any of them..
Help plz, i really want gmail to my phone (not through http://m.gmail.com )!

Hi peeps,

Gmail was working for about a month or so, until one day it just stopped.
"TLS/SSL server certificate not authorized by known authority. Contact your email provider"

i doubt the settings are a prob, cause it's the same as everyone else's and for awhile, it actually did work.

certificates-wise, whatever that came pre-installed when i bought the phone allowed me to use gmail anyway.

in Internet settings ->security ->TRUSTED CERT.
i have Thawte Server CA - valid from 01-Aug-96 til 31-Dec-20 (version 3)
and then in JAVA CERT.
i have Thawte Premium - also valid for the same period

so what the?
would it help if i download and install the new certs from one of the links provided in this thread?
and if i do, is it gonna mess anything up?
(tho as things stand, i can't check gmail anyway)

Thanks heaps in advance.
hope i can get some good suggestions here.

Just confirming I managed to get gmail connecting to k750i through telstra in australia by the following.

installed thawte premium cert from zip (fingerprint 627f...). Still unable to get header (tls/ssl error unknown certificate authority).

installed equifax cert (valid to 22/8/2018 fingerprint: d232...) now able to retrieve email.

obtained the certificates from windows os (cntrl pnl...intrnt opt...content...certs...trusted root) export DER

I was not able to install certs with usb cable but didn't have a problem with bluetooth. I did not try Irda

Thanks to previous posters for the clues

I own a w810 with T-Mobile USA. I couldnt send emails...

So I dled like 3 certificates,

Then these are my settings

I think i have everything setup properly:
Connect Using: T-Zones
Protocol: POP3
Incoming Server: pop.gmail.com
Incoming Port: 995
Encryption: SSL for both incoming and outgoing
Mailbox: Myaccount@gmail.com
Password: Mypassword
Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing Port: 465
Email Address: myusername@gmail.com
Download: Headers & text
Copy Outgoing: Off
Check Interval: Off

It didnt work before because the encryption was set to SSL for incoming and TLS for outgoing... Which is what gmail suggests for POP3 clients
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13287

So I had to play around, and changed both encryptions to SSL(in and out) then it worked.

Hope this helps
