Is it possible to update the media player on the K750 with the one on e w800, which I understand is superior? |

The only option you have is to upgrade the K750 to the full W800 firmware. There is no option to just upgrade the media player to the walkman player

The phones are almost the same phone with only different FWs right?
(Hmm I hope I don't get like 200 angry PMs that tell me about the huge differences between the two phones )

Do you lose VideoDJ when you upgrade W800 FW on k750?? What is the quality of pics and videos, does it change or no?
Sorry, bit of topic, but I want to know these things before I make my mind wich FW to put in my k750......

@Phantomlynx, I'm not sure where you can do it yourself but there are a number of places you can send the phone to have it done. for example handymobilez uk, a member here, can do it for you
@djordje1yu, my w800 has videodj so I assume it must also be available on the K750 after being flashed with w800 firmware
as for pic quality, I have found the w800 to be even superior to the fantastic pics of the K750, especially in lower light. I just took a couple of quick pics to show the difference though I assume this is probably due to the ccd sensor in the w800 vs cmos in the k750 rather than better firmware
from k750
from w800

@masseur, those are indeed good quality for low light. I didn't realise the W800 and K750 had a different cmos chip?
If that's true, then I might buy a W800, then flash it back to a K750 and swap the W800 shell for my K750 shell
That will give me the better low light camera, and retain the activity button and K750 lense cover design that I prefer. |

well I am only going by what I have read here at Esato.
Unfortunately SE still haven't released the W800 white paper but it has been said a few times that w800 has a ccd sensor and its also been said that k750 being sold from now also have a ccd sensor instead of cmos but I really can't verify that other than making assumptions based on comparing photos like those I posted here
I've taken quite a few pics for comparison now and am convinced the w800 does take better pics than my k750

that's interesting, 'cause I always thouht that the K750 had a ccd, then saw somewhere here peeps saying it was a cmos I was surprised. So I reckon you are right mate, which is good news.
My K750 is pretty new, I wonder if I got a ccd? I doubt it but.. |

it's a nice idea ... but i don't think it will effect the quality ..
coz the K750 & w800 run's different drivers ..
so even if you'll have a CCD chip the quality will be the same as the K750's CMOS

W800 use a cmos censor like K750.
There are no plans to begin using ccd-censor neither for K750 nor W800, this was a roumor that started because of a misunderstaning between eldar from MR and an S//E sales rep when eldar first reviewed the K750 a long time ago. The roumor had it that the K750 would start using ccd-censor around christmas. Eldar has since verified that this was a misunderstanding and it is not going to happen. But roumors die hard and lately the idea of w800 having a ccd-censor has been added to the roumors a few times. This is however not the case.

fair enough, I guess I hadn't read that but its noted now.
interesting how much better the w800 pics are then and in all my comparison testing they are far better in low light and I'm comparing one w800 with 2 k750's

okay, good to put that rumour to rest, so atleast we know what the hardware is. Must be a firmware issue, which means hopefully the R1L replacement will fix it..
we can only hope |
