You guys think some time soon there's gonna be a phone thats gonna have all the parameters of 750i and will have EDGE? I would love to have these 2 things combined? Or maybe you could suggest a phone that has EDGE in it and a pretty decent phone to play, use and have a normal design, not with the flipping covers, they remind me frogs lol |

Yes, I think so. And it will be quadband (GSM 850/900/1800/1900).
I'm also guessing that soon there will be "5-band" mobile in the market: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 + WCDMA. |

I would love to buy k750, but thats about the only thing thats holding me back. Soon I'm going back to University and right now my network here Tele2 doesen't have any extra fees on the GPRS so I thought I might use that and I woulnd't have to pay for the god damn internet modem at home neather for the internet itself. As I understand EDGE has pretty high speeds - right?
Hmm .. so I don't know what to do. :\
Any phone out there that would have all the qualities that have been listed in this post? Yes ? No ? Maybe .. ? lol
Ok, back to work. . . |

SE have a few other phones in the pipeline but the reason they haven't prioritized an EDGE phone is because most of the world can't use it yet. |

Yeep! it looks like se is cutting cost 2 maintain lower price 4 its phone. unlike blokia phones blessed every its phone wit edge but comes heavy in u'r wallet. i think SE is more concentrating in UTMS.

yeah, I've read about it, but the phone is huge, and I don't really want any big phones after I had P800 some time ago. Maybe not as big as fat ... hmm, I'll think about it though.
Thanks! |

Why wait, when it's already out there, from Nokia (ok no 2Mpix camera): Take e.g. 6680/6681.
Or if you're a bit patient the coming N70... |

EDGE isn't that fast. If you're not very close to a base station it hardly exceeds GSM GPRS. But that's my experience. Most of the time I got about 60kBit/s usable average bandwidth with EDGE. That was with a Swisscom unlimited EGDE/GPRS/WLAN PC-card. Using my V800 and UMTS is much faster, so I gave back the PC-card... With UMTS I get about 200kBit/s in average, even with poor reception.

Good point kimi. I think it's why se haven't jumped on the edge bandwagon to any big degree.
I find GPRS acceptable for most purposes, given the high cost of data in australia |

I get 120 - 200 kbps with EDGE.
I use my S710 as a modem and it's much better than dial up connections. It will never compare to my DSL connection at home, however when I am away from home..... 120 - 200 kbps is not bad at all.
Unless I can find WIFI around, other wise EDGE works well for me.

Even if we had edge, the data prices are crazy (2c per KB - you could spend $10 just browsing one decent website!!)
So if it was any faster than 44Kbps my data bill would kill me |
