Hey guys, had alook and hear on the W800i ... Dissapointed with the headphones they JARR like really badly, i wanted to buy the new headset as i thought they would be better that the ones which came with my K750, but are in fact worse..except that you can plug any headset i guess is the saving grace

I tried the headset on both phones 750 and 800 it jarrs even before you hit full volume..no such problems on the k750 headsets ...and are smaller, they do offerf a snug fit and dont hurt after extended use... but they are supposed to be better being a walkman phone.

anyone else experienced this?

No. Have tried them in a store and I thought the sound was very good (no JARR as you say). Maybe the one you tried had some maulfunction.

You can buy the converters from ebay search on "SONY ERICSSON K750i/K750 3.5mm Headphone sound Adapter " or look here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-ER[....]eNameZWD2VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I just bought one and it works fine, delivery took about a week though. Ended up costin £8.44 inc Delivery, which is a little steep for a converter but......

Strange... i did try playing 2 of the w800i at full volume.. both the phones had the jarring problem, dont know if ASPAC sets of SE have this problem..can anyone from EU try this and let me know if it exists on those models too.

My k750 at full vol just does not jarr... still looking to buy the headset 3.5 module..will plug some other headset if se's does not work well..i guess

I using my W800 now... I havent noticed and jarring/distortion (although I'm listening only at 60-70% volume). However, its certainly not as good as the MDR-EX71 from Sony.

I am using the MDR-EX71 with the 3.5mm connector mentioned earlier on the K750. The sound is good, I can't use magebass option or else the sound is too bassy. I can listen at 100% volume no probs (Pretty much need to when i am on the tube). I have ordered the SE HPM-70 headset, but I do wonder if it is worth buying it at all! I find the original earphoned unuseable as they don't even fit in the ear very well.

It is not the headphone that distorts but the output transistor that is reaching saturation. This is an indication that you have reached the max that the output can provide and it starts to clip.

I hope this doesn't sound like an obvious comment, but could it be that your particular headphones are faulty?

Get back in touch with SE or wherever you got the phone from and see if you can get the phones exchanged.

Hardly. You are dealing with a $20 "stereo system" at best, and you want to push it to full volume and expect it to perform?

I have two B & W Matrix speakers, an NAD 2200 Amp, and I can not run these to full power without distorting the music. However, the better the source, the more headroom you will have. In short, it is probably not the headphones but the actually phone itself.
