Hey,

I tried out the HowardForums earphone mod for my K750i - took a while because I was reeeally careful not to mess up, but it worked a treat. I can now use my K750i with my Etymotic ER4-P earphones (probably the best earphones you can buy, short of the £500 Shure earphones)... and it sounds surreal. Especially with Sony's MegaBass EQ - I have a feeling that it's not just an EQ on the K750i but a seperate bass booster circuit as I doubt EQ alone could have such an effect.

Wow and here I thought I'm the only one using the ER-4P with my K750.

Yes it is a delight to listen to music with these earphones. Though I find the MegaBass is slightly too bassy for my hearing at maximum volume.

I agree to an extent - I find the MegaBass was probably designed for low-end earphones, because with the ER4Ps, the MegaBass can sound a little blurry/muddy sometimes. It still sounds better than any other EQ setting on there though in my personal taste, so I just stick with the MegaBass.

A great setup for audio. My gf has an iPod mini, and personally, I prefer my K750i + ER4Ps

There's 'ThePlug' earphones made by Koss (unfortunate name I know). They're a bit like the ER4Ps, but only cost around a tenner.

Etymotic do cheaper variants for the ER4 range, what's your budget?

If you wanna go cheap get some EX-71's. They're the same as the W800 ones but Sony branded. Then cut up the included extendor solder to your earpiece at the mic and voila a working headset with MIC and you dont cut up the earphones themselves.

Do you find that at maximum volume the volume is still not loud enough? I'm using the cheapo 3.5mm adaptor and I wonder if the W800 OEM headphone adaptor will help.

Hi,

I'm using the stock earphone cable, modified with a 3.5mm adapter. The maximum volume seems more than loud enough for me using the ER4Ps, although I do still listen to music at just half a notch to a notch under the maximum volume.

So in short, I think it's loud enough. Any louder would start to do some serious ear damage.

good to see some real hifi heads out there.
ive been using my P900 and S700 with a CMoy Pocket Amplifier and a pair of Sennhieser HD25 headphones. now days ive got my Sony 20gb HD5 so i dont really listen to music on my phones

It takes me back to the Siemens SL45 which had a built in mp3 player (ahead of its time imo) and the standard headphones were really good.

Anyway good to see some real headphones being used with you music phones
