@ da brixsta,
I guess I completely missed this thread in the non-mobile discussion section...:

Yup, I followed most of the 6 Nations...gotta feel for Wales though, with that ref blowing as they kicked for corner and had the throw-in for a possible match-winning try against Italy.
The ref has since apologised for the 'misunderstanding':

Ah, and the Cricket World Cup is finally underway.

Sad news that the front man for legendary rock band Boston, who had major hits with songs like 'More Than A feeling', passed away.
RIP, Brad Delp.

One of the colleagues at work has just got her Vodafone upgrade...a W880i.
She let me fiddle around with it. I took a few pics of the N73 with it, then Bluetoothed them over to my phone so that I can upload them on our thread later.
A few immediate impressions:
1. Very slim and slim-looking, perhaps also visually aided by the contrasting metallic orange of the back cover and the jet black one (with Vodafone logo...) on the front.
2. It's wider than I imagined, but not a hassle at all though.
3. The buttons are tiny, although they respond very well. The little chrome camera button on the right hand side edge is fiddly to use, almost recessed, and very thin as well...pork sausage fingers need not apply.
4. Some funky animated wallpapers/themes in standby mode.
5. Camera can be best described as 'average', but we knew this would be the case on this model, I guess...
6. HEAVY for a phone this size...no surprise if its housing's made out of (anodised?) stainless steel.
If it's looks and music someone's after, and the small buttons aren't a hindrance for the individual, this phone should do the trick.
Snazzy little phone, but not for me.

Hey guys. I had lots of fun doing promotions for SE. Has some really interesting conversations with some interesting people. Had a play with the p990i, w300, w850, and w950. All excellent phones in their own way. SE has really expanded their portfolio catering to a wide variety of individuals. They have really captured the interest of the youth. A lot of business men were interesed in the m600 and i demonstrated all its features. People were really surprised a cell phone could do so much. Anyway, the w880 is apparently already available on vodacom(it's in their brochure). Its about R899 on a business call contract. Ouch! Another really cool phone that caught my eye was the w710i. Really different and cool.
Have u guys seen the new broadband deals from Vodacom. Finally things are getting interested. Might just add on 500mb to my contract for a meager 189 rand per month. Anyway, enjoy the week. |

The W880i taken with the N73, atop a PC mousepad in the staffroom. (Not the best light source, being behind the PC workstation, but good enough):
With flash:
..and these taken with the W880i of the N73...
BTW, no adjustment to the pics at all (apart from resizing and cropping for the forum), and bearing in mind that the light source was not good. Hell, these are crap..not a patch on the K750i/ W800i or W810i, with auto-focus etc.
Disappointing... 2mp? LOL...more like passe VGA quality, even with limited lighting:
I know taking pics is not the main trump card of this phone, but come on, the other 'surpassed' phones mentioned in this reply had the brilliant 2mp unit with auto-focus...
To make it a fair comparison (even with the obvious N73's advantage with extra 1mp and a/f etc.), both cellphones were placed on the same mousepad and locality, with the pics taken straight after each other.

Hi Jojo!
LOL, I guess I should have, but didn't want to push my luck with a phone that doesn't belong to me. You know when someone checks your phone out, you don't want them (accidentally or not) scrolling through personal data n' stuff, so I made a point of giving it back after a short while.
Yup, I woulda liked to check out the phone properly for a day or two, which would've included some outdoor shots too, I'm sure.
Heeeyyy, we're on page 666 of this thread...

@ Jojo,
Not my lucky number mate, but it's one hellish beast of a number...
The biggest outdoor bike show in the UK, called the BMF (British Motorcyclists Federation) Show, happens in May; I'll be putting the N73 through its paces again.
