I had this problem.

Are you using the XP drivers? FMA doesn't like them. Try downloading the WIDCOMM drivers from Jonsguides.com. Once they are installed you have to manually tell XP to use the new drivers otherwise it will always try and use the generic ones. Once i did all this i got FMA to detect my K700.

Sorry for asking more FMA related questions but the search has not provided any answers.

I have finally got FMA to work with my K700 but noticed a couple of things.

1) The pictures do not pop up when an SMS arrives.
2) The file system does not recognise all of my subfolders in the pictures menu
3) The calender does not show
4)Can you sync with Outlook express or just outlook? (i.e. how do make outlook express your default mail browser?)

Other than that i'm quite impressed with FMA.

Thanks

Using FMA to connect through Bluetooth to a K700i is a little tricky to set up if you haven't done it before, so here's my short guide:

1. Install the latest Widcomm drivers, currently 1.4.3.4 (I always use the latest version from any vendor, which I patch to work with any dongle). Note that you must rename bth.inf to bth.bak in Windows\Inf *before* installing these drivers if you are running Windows XP SP2.
2. Create a shortcut to your mobile phone's Serial Port.
3. Install the latest version of FMA (0.1.1.16)
4. In FMA, update it to the latest patch (Help / Check for update) - currently 1.1.16a.
5. In FMA go to Tools / Options and set 'Connect phone via' and, under Serial Port, select the COM port which your phone is mapped to.
6. Optionally, on the Appearance tab, set the Compose Message Windows transparancy to 255.
7. The first time you connect to your phone, right click on the shortcut to the serial port and select Connect. This manual connection seems to only be necessary the first time.
8. Hit Connect on FMA.
9. The first time you use it, right click on Contacts / Phone memory and perform a refresh to import your phone's contacts. I would also do this for your Text message Inbox and Sent Items.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I've already used the search function with no hope.

It came with the XTNDConnect Blue Manager software/driver and I can connect to my T610 via this. However, FMA (0.1.1.16 Stable) won't find it. All that happens is it freezes up and I have to ALT+CTRL+DEL to close it. I am using Windows XP Professional.

This is my procedure:
1. Open FMA
2. Tools -> Options -> General Tab -> Check Native Bluetooth -> Click on Lookup Device button (still displays all 0's for the Bluetooth Address)
3. Phone -> Connect
4. FMA freezes!

My XTNDConnect Blue Manager tells me that my Bluetooth address is 00:08:1B:05:63:EB and I have even tried forcing address that in FMA to connect. Still don't work.

Also I know the following information if it helps:
Bluetooth COM Port - DUN [COM6]
Bluetooth COM Port - FAX [COM8]
Bluetooth COM Port - LAN [COM7]
Bluetooth COM Port - SERIAL [COM5]

Plus, I've tried downloading the XP SP1 Bluetooth driver, but it say's that my existing one is already newer than that.

Even more, I don't even see the little "B" (Bluetooth) icon in my desktop, but I can still transfer files using XTNDConnect Blue Manager.

Anyone?
Thanks in advance,
Jek

P.S.
The specifications of my USB Dongle (brand = Soho):
USB Plug & Play compatible
USB V1.1 compliant
USB BUS Power
Bluetooth specification v1.1 compliant
Full Speed Class 2 Bluetooth operation
Operation range - 10m (33Ft) range
Maximum user data rate 721 kbps
Frequency range: 2.400~2.480 GHz
Low power saving features
BQB pre-qualified
Driver support for windows 98se/ME/XP

2. Create a shortcut to your mobile phone's Serial Port.

I'm able to do everything except step 2 (above). Not sure what you mean by that. ATM I've uninstalled XTNDConnect Blue Manager and am just using Widcomm software, but Widcomm doesn't allow me to make a connection since it says I don't have the proper license. I realise that this a security proticol so that only specific brands are allowed to use certain drivers.

How do I get around this? I heard there was a way to patch it, but I don't know how.

That would be COM5 (per your previous post).

I would recommend you go back to the state you were in your 3:xx AM post, and follow MWarner's steps in minute detail.

Notice how he recommends you _do not_ connect FMA via BT, but via serial port.

If you cannot make a shortcut to the serial port, find a way to activate the communication on this port in your BT software at the appropriate step in MWarner's recipe.

@HjJ:

Yeah when I had XTNDConnect Blue Manager installed I could find ports 5, 6, 7 & 8 in the Serial drop-down box in FMA. I tried each indivitual port (as Serial, not Native Bluetooth) but none of them worked (i.e. FMA would just freeze up).

Afterwards I tried this guide http://www.jonsguides.com/bluetooth/ and uninstalled XTNDConnect Blue Manager and installed the (2nd) latest version of Widcomm drivers, but this driver doesnt recognise my dongle due to security reasons (so I've read). He says on his site that there is a way to patch the drivers so that it would work on any dongle, but he had to remove the procedure due to legal reasons. Anyone tell me how to do it????

Really frustrated,

@J3K:

The freezing-up part is where MWarner's point 7 might come in handy. I am guessing the COM-port is inactive, meaning FMA will be looking for non-existent HW or driver....

Try to find a way to establish a Serial Port Connection to your phone (with the BT support software), and hit Connect in FMA.

@HjJ:

Yeah I realised most of that. But no one is yet to tell me how to create a shortcut to my T610's Serial Port.

The bad thing now is that I can't even reinstalled XTNDConnect Blue Manager anymore since the last time I tried to unistall it my computer reset itself half way, which left partial files behind. Now when I try to install it I just get error messages and the setup wizard closes.

So atm my current state is Widcomm drivers that say I dont have the right liscense to use their software. And NO com or serial ports r open.
