The r290 is different from the r190, though both are dual mode (gsm/satellite).
In the satellite mode, the r290 makes use of the Globalstar array of satellites while the r190 utilizes the Asia Cellular Satellite (ACeS) with which the footprint is limited to Asia.
Soon however, Europe, the Middle East and Africa would have their own satellite footprints and what happens would be a roaming agreement between the satellite operators... something like what happens in a cellular network, only in a global scale.

I hate Citibank!!!!
I transferred money from Equitable PCI Bank to Citibank for the purchase of Anycom Blue CF card from the Asian distributor, Adisasta. After about three days, I was notified by Equitable PCI that the fund transfer was rejected by Citibank due to mismatch in the account name and account number of the beneficiary. I called up Adisasta to clarify things, and what they discovered was Citibank mis-spelled the surname of the beneficiary from JONG to JONO! Citibank returned my money to Equitable PCI less USD27 (processing fee) for a mistake they made!!! &*^$*^$)# Citibank!!!! In fact, it is not only USD27 that I lost, since I also paid Equitable PCI $18.50 to facilitate the telegraphic transfer and since no product was shipped I effectively lost USD45.50. I called up Citibank Philippines to complain, sent an email to Citibank Jakarta, but up to now I have not received any reply from those &*^$*&^#!!! I couldn't believe a "world-class" bank like Citibank can make a stupid mistake.
End of rant...
(&%$*^&%(* Citibank!!!!!! |
