That 10 million estimate is not for 1 year, but around 6 months only. Don't forget Honami is not a "1 year flagship" like Htc One or Galaxy S4.

i think that's the problem with Sony.. they don't identify their flagship as one premium device for decent time as they used to be.. instead they push more and more so within 6 months the flagship lose its value in the market so quickly

they make it hard to themselves.. trying to spread lots of devices, and one of them will call it "the best of Sony" which is not true.. and that BEST one will be dismiss by less than 6 months for another best of best!
that strategy sure will get you a new customer but not for so long..

It's the final year where Sony will do this. So you don't need to be frustrated 2014 onwards

Greater than 2000:1 Contrast ratio, so black are obviously going to be good.

Add Opticontrast panel into it and the black will be AWESOME

Screen specs from zomg

Sharp ASV-VA-IGZO, ~1800:1 CR, 178 deg viewing angle
JDI AH-IPS ~2100:1 CR, 178 deg viewing angle

Of the two the Sharp screen has slightly better power characteristics, but the JDI one is thinner, the other problem is that JDI had problems with the same AH-IPS tech for HTC so Sony are wary of using it.

I have seen the first one in person and it's amazing, coupled with the low power usage, I really hope Sony go for it. Though I can understand the latter since it uses A-Si and will not have the potential for shortages since they are targeting upwards of 12m shipments over a 6 month period for this phone. It could end up as a panel lottery, but this time there won't be any real losers, both screens have an amazing spec sheet.

Random was right about the panel lottery after all. One with sony screen(JDI) the other with sharp

@ randomuser : how much of a focus has Sony put into the battery life of their flagships? We've had the xperia z, released right at the start of this year. With Honami now being the next flagship - has Sony made any more of an effort with focusing on improving the battery life than with the Z (not counting the bump to 3000mAh) ?

1. Pixel binning was considered for Honami in the initial stages when it was supposed to have a 20 MP module. But now with a 13 MP unit, I'm not sure if they will go for pixel binning. From what I've heard lately, they won't.

It doesn't make sense on a 13Mpix sensor. It will have physically bigger pixels, which will give it amazing dynamic range, and noise levels should be pretty low.

I haven't done the math, but it should have ~2.0 micron pixels, which are bigger than the N8s 1.75, and when you add the advanced sensor tech, software processing, etc. we end up with a proper camera phone.

And, just to clarify, the 808 does NOT do pixel binning. A lot of people seem to think that it does.

Dacha, myself and zomg stated months ago that Honami camera may end up with 13MP. So I find this Ramu confession as a confirmation of that information.

LOL.

Wrong.

You mentioned a 13 MP module that's same as Xperia Z. Which is clearly NOT the case. And the lower than 20 MP decision was made way after those statements.

And it's still unknown whether it's 13 or 12.

P.S. If I were you, I'd stop trusting your "source" as he's fed you nothing but .............

Great news. Ramu, how is it in the end with the internal storage in Honami? Has it only 16Gb?

Wait, so you're saying Honami will be shown on June 25th? Isn't the event supposed to be for international markets? So... we're going to see Honami hit the market sooner than expected?
