I have a question...
My X10 has such awful battery life. It will in all seriousness die on me after only a few hours of usage, including listening to music, which kills the battery. My phone's about 18 months old, so I'm thinking that might be the problem.
Would a new battery help? Or is this just the way it is?
Because right now it's either a new battery, or just jumping ship to my brother's old iPhone 3GS, which has excellent battery life and a much nicer screen, however far worse camera, and since I'm used to android, I find iOS to be a bit heavy-handed to use.

A new battery should do it, remember that the lithium batteries benefits from shorter recharges.
But
"much nicer screen" haha, take another look mate, bloody h'll you can clearly see the pixels on the 3GS's screen.

Yes, the X10 has a higher pixel density, but in terms of colors and vibrance, I think the 3GS wins hands down!
Gonna try out a new battery if they have it in store tomorrow. =)

lol I have. Which was also why I was unsure as to wether or not I would bother with a new battery or just use the 3GS. =)

I still have some time before I upgrage my mobile so I was hoping someone could assist me in finding a thread or if anyone knows of a thread about the error: Unable to install or start phone software update components I would like to upgrade to Gingerbread and while using PC companion I keep getting this error.
Advice or direction to a thread with assistance in this |

@ghabib
This could be a number of different problems. Try disabling any firewall, anti-virus or similar on your PC. Also using SEUS instead of PC Companion. Where are you based? It could be linked to an ISP block or location based block (e.g. the Great Firewall of China doesn't let me connect to SEUS so I must use a VPN service).

Guys, my X10 has started using much more data than usual in the last month. I'm on a 200mb per month plan and I easily exceeded it for the first time last billing cycle. When I saw that this had happened, I started watching my data usage and for some reason it has increased a lot!
So I've installed the Onavo data usage app to monitor it and I've used 78% of my 200mb in 8 days...doing nothing! No browser use, no youtube. I've even turned off data now because at this rate I'm going over very shortly! According to Onavo my apps with the biggest usage have been Android (74mb), Dictionary (62mb) and keypad (47mb). By comparison, browser use was only 2.4mb.
Any idea how or why my dictionary and keypad would use over 100mb in 8 days!!
1. Recent changes to my operating conditions have been a change of my home router which has prevented my mobile from accessing wifi at home.
2. And I recall changing my keyboard to TouchPal in recent times.
Perhaps there's a connection between these changes and the data use increase.

My X10's battery life is phenomenal. Without a charge and normal usage, I get a full 2 days before I recharge at about 15%. I've been very happy with it. Using stock gingerbread rom and have bluetooth and GPS turned on at all times with auto brightness.
Haribolman - it's strange that keyboard and dictionary are taking a lot of data but it sounds to me like your keyboard app is the culprit. The stock keyboard and dictionary shouldn't be using ANY data as far as i know, as the dictionary it uses for word prediction is stored on the phone itself. As for android OS using data, it's probably for syncing your email/contacts/calendar/data location/etc... You can turn those off or decrease the frequency of the sync and it should help out tremendously.

Thanks to FeraVolt my X10 is now running Jelly Bean 4.1.2 rather fluidly.

That's so awesome to read this news. Do you know if they have plans for the 4.2.2?

I have not read anything yet, but I guess it will happen someway (integrating 4.2.2 ressources in the other ROM, waiting for Sony to roll out 4.2 ROMs for XZ and porting them). Heck, I bought it with Android 1.6 almost three years ago.
