FINALLY!! I have the official update! Though it didn't come through PC Companion. Had to download and flash it myself but at least it is the official 2.3.3 US generic for x10a

@goldenface what did you mean by flicking the timescape widget to switch between your streams?

I am somewhat tempted to try the WB GingerBread ROM.. to anyone who's tried both the official and WB's version.. any comments? Is it worth switching as far as speed and display are concerned? I'm not too worried about rooting and what comes with that. I'm curious if the speed and display is better since WB's ROM has Bravia Engine and uncapped FPS

UPDATE: I went ahead and installed wolfbreak's gingerbread ROM and i LOVE it. it is definitely noticeably faster than the official ROM. To anybody using GB (official or custom), can you install the CAR HOME app on the market? for some reason it shows "incompatible" for me :/

I have it. UI looks pretty cool, but lags a tad bit.

New market is quite nice. The way it is displayed varies with different region's sim though. I noticed with my UK SIM card it looks slightly different to when I have my Chinese sim inserted. I guess this is due to the availability of certain types of content in different regions. To be honest I'm not happy with the way the new market and apps are done, it seems if I purchase an app with my UK sim card in, and that app isn't available in the Chinese region, when I change my sim back to the chinese one that app no longer works. I used to use Market Enabler to get around this and be able to access everything but that doesn't work with the new system. As it is, I can't use about 20 worth of apps that I've legitimately paid for.

I am looking forward to the new market being made available in all regions.... The existing market kind of looks bland now after having seen
the UI of the new market.

Im loving Gingerbread on my X10, Moogoo im glad you finaly got it!

Had a little issue with fast battery drain late last week though, only to find that the Sony Ericsson Sync was constantly syncing my Bookmarks despite the fact that i set it to sync once a day, so turned it off completely, now its back to normal.

Thanks! I'm glad to have it too. I'm on WolfBreak's 4.0.4 stock ROM and love the speed and responsiveness. There are some issues though with force closing in some apps but otherwise it works great. I don't have enough posts on XDA to post in the thread to ask about it though!

does the Wolfbreak's 4.0.4 has xrecovery pre installed?
how much quadrant the rom scores?
i have downloaded it but did not tried it yet.
i was on Zcm7 V003 for 2 weeks, the rom was supper fast, but after i have installed all the needed applications it began so lagy that i have returned to stock SE2.3.3
and after uninstalling all the SE garbage applications the rom is now quite fast (of course using launcherpro).

yes xrecovery is pre-installed..

i don't know the quadrant scores as I haven't tinkered with it.

I've installed a bunch of apps and only notice slight lag when doing a lot of things. I am experiencing some force closes on apps that shouldn't! (i.e., gallery). Also having issues with music apps as well. But alas, can't post anything on XDA

I may go back to stock SE 2.3.3 and root it to get rid of the SE garbage apps.

It's nice to be able to tweak things though.

why you have to root it?
did you backed up SE 2.3.3 using xrecovery before flashing the custom rom?
if yes, just restore it and have fun.
this is the way i use to switch between different roms.

I'm dropping the plans of buying iPhone 5. Arc S is mind blowing. I am hoping with 1.4GHZ processor and 512MB RAM will speed up the UI.

The plus point of having Sony Ericsson is the camera. It's incomparable with other companies. Also the custom UI is far more better than any other smartphones. All in all, it looks a powerful phone. Just missing the front facing camera which is fine with me.

I'm also hoping Arc S will get ice cream sandwich update.

Can somebody list or point me to a link that lists the SE apps and services that are safe to uninstall?

Thanks,

MY X10 Xperia has just died. I feel so sad lol. I know it's just a device but damn it. It got drowned into water and the worst step I took is hair dryer. I don't see any chances of getting it back alive. Anyway, what's gone is gone. Xperia arc S. Come soon buddy.

I'll miss my X10.
