The only thing I hate about my phone is the unnecessary Vodacom images that can't be deleted. Contrary to what Tahir says I believe that consumers will have the choice of unbranded phones, it will cost slightly more because they would not be subsidised by a network. Long live freedom of choice, that's what's South Africa is about.

@Rhino: On 2nd thought there's 2 ringtones I can't delete. On branded phones don't think everyone will love them...so subscribers will get an option to buy an unbranded phone, maybe 5 months after it's release on a network...eg: V800=Z800

Is this guy crying about 2 - 3 voda pics that cant be deleted???!!!!

the ringtones are se ringtones so thats their way of keeping it on the phone...

everythings gonna be branded wether you like it or not....

eg; voda buys phones from the manufacturer, it goes to the warehouse, the are blank with no software, then voda and the respected reps will load the software on the phone individualy then wrap it up and sell it!!!!!! i know coz iv done it a couple of times...

so everything IS branded, vodafone however changes the firmware and relieves some features which is STUPID... in this case a branded phone is a bit of a waste...

but vodafone phones i think are are loaded at vodafone... thats why vodacom cant load voda live on an individual phone ie K700... but it is possible but i think at vodafone headquarters!!!!

mp3 is software and can easily be deleted or overwritten...

@786KBR: I think branded phones are inevitable but it all depends to which level it's implemented... You could go for the slight approach that the three networks have adopted or u could go for the Vodafone Live approach.

I might be getting my V800 next month or never. The problem with me is WHAT I KNOW IS DANGEROUS like for eg All current 3g handset dont have HSDPA and Hsdpa handset should be shipping soon + where i am there is NO 3G coverage and i will get coverage soon. The nearest 3G mast is about 25km away from me which went online last week Friday...........INSTANT MESSAGING COMING SOON TO SA VIA FANTASTIC .Instant messaging is cheaper than SMS and works over GPRS.I am not going to give you prices but all i can is its about 25cents a message or cheaper. You can buy 1 at a time and never expires.IM will launch in 3 weeks time

Sorry to burst your Vodafone bubble but several phones already available support IM with Yamigo acting as a gateway.

Fantastic1 got nothing to do with Vodacom or Vodafone but this company will be launching it with Vodacom. Its the only SouthAfrican company that will promote IM.SMS @ 25cents for local and international SMS or They might launch @ R120 for year and send unlimited IM.Coporates will get better disc Yamigo only has 20 000 members. The company Fantastic1 uses have 20 million members. Just wait for it to be launch

People why are you bothering with Yamigo and wait for IM to be introduced and pay 25 cents a message and all this crap? Now listen to this - if you have the right phone (s60 motorola, samsung, nokia) you can use AgileMessenger for free (pay only for gprs/edge) You can connect to any other cellphone or desktop pc.You can log DIRECTLY to msn, yahoo, icq, aol and even the mighty jabber (using the jabbers own protocols - for the ones realising the advantages or understanding what I am talking about) Also you have ptt anywhere in the world (voip - protocol) you can instantly share files and folders/pictures etc. Also another small and sweet S60 appliction has full irc implementation ! Again file and picture sharing and all that ! Jabber is my favorite for networking to my work's mainframe (SAPS) And the best part is I can do all this for over 2years now ! Apart of Tahir with his P900 you people can only dream about all this. Please buddies don't take it as a insult but as a mind opening speech !
