Its not about the quality or the quantity. Its about the hype. A 12 mp phone sounds much better than an 8 mp, and thats what samsung is looking at with their release. |

With Samsung releasing the 12MP phone, it will seriously slow sales of the 8MP phones. The only good thing I see is that the 8MP phones will be cut price.
Is the latest Xperia going th run the new WinMo. Can the X1 run it i.e. is there going to be a software update? There are a few rumbles not from  though, that some devices at MWC will be running the new WinWo.
Since the good UK members are covered in snow, give us some presents Santa. |

the 12MP camphone Samsung are 'rumoured' to be unveiling is one of many. I hear they've got a slew of phones ready to unveil, a 12MP phone, an 8MP OZ equipped phone, not to mention the tasty looking S8300...
what I DO know for sure - their announcement on the 9th of Feb for their 'biggest release of the year' (their words, not mine) is their flagship for this year & its meant to be something REALLY special...

So I guess Samsung will have the honors of announcing the first 12MP global mobile phone. SE had the honors with 8MP but Samsung released their 8MP first.

SE should not be jealous to samsung and should not realease another high mp cameraphone. 8mp is very high enough for a mobile phone!
What they should do is improve their cam-modules but not by increasing the megapixel count.

True. Much better to have a higher quality 8MP then standard 12MP.

No, because 12MP sells better and is more hyped. Look at Moto ZN5, that one is maybe even better then the 8MP phones if you stretch the pics to 8MP and still no-one gives a damn about it. |

Now, will be doing something to match it, or better it i.e. a smartphone? Based on the Xperia brand, we should see a premium, professional and media centric device right?
We has so far established that Hikaru is a Walkman with 8MP camera but will the Xperia be comparable to the so called N99? |

fingers crossed. love sonyericsson for their high build quality handsets, but they are a bit behind feature wise. imagine a N85 but with the quality of a sonyericsson handset. nice?

The little bird doesn't know what hypothetical means, he just gives small amounts of information and eats worms. I think he could be right so if we forget about things like camera and stuff, does Santa (who probobly has knowledge of both phones) think that the Xperia is of the same category?
The N99 is meant to be very high end, the N97 is to fill in the gap before the N99 release. Honestly, I think the X1 is better than the N97 (having played with both) but the competition is still hot for summer.
I'm interested to know what UI the Xperia has since HTC are WinMo or Android and Nokia are SF. The HTC Touch Pro is like the X1's ugly sister, will there be another pretty Xperia with an ugly HTC sibling?
The 12MP Samsung is supposed to be announced before MWC and then displayed there. I know its tight on information at but come on, Muhammad-Oli has got very little work to do! |
