whilst I'm here...
erm, is anyone having any problems receiving emails in Fetch mode when the phone is Sleeping?
I've got emails set to Fetch Every Hour - but when the phone is in Sleep mode the emails don't come through. But as soon as I wake the phone voila!

Hmm... mine doesnt seem to have a problem picking up emails in fetch mode. Even in sleep mode, i get a little 'ting' noise or a vibrate when an email is received |

Thanks Ryan.

I done some Googling and it seems some people do have a problem with Fetch mode.
Will try sending myself some more emails to test this out......... |

yeah well i've learned that it is a common problem, and Apple have even acknowledged that there is a problem with this. Strange that it doesnt seem to happen with everyone. As always, you'll have to hope it's fixed in the next fw update! (which shouldn't be long actually) |

And now that I've put this post up, guess what just happened a few minutes ago? I received 2 emails - whilst the phone was in sleep mode!!!
iPhone, you sure are a strange and temperamental beast!!!!
Role on 2.2 Though no doubt this will come with its own quirks though!!!

Strange you should say this, as I said exactly the same thing a couple of days ago to a friend of mine. He was asking whether I'd recommend an iPhone. And, as him and me bought our P800's together I told him "remember the fun factor of the P800? Well, the iPhone is the same" |

haha quality. Yeah it really was the good old days. I still have mine - albeit in bits - in my drawer. I pushed the screen through and never got round to replacing it. I was reading through my old PM's last night, and it brought back some good memories from that era
Whilst trying to veer back on topic, i was reading that a german iphone blog thinks that the 2.2fw update should arrive in the next 5 days or so |

Too many rumours! But lets hope this one is spot on.
There are far too many glitches with 2.1 (most of which, no doubt, will not be fixed in any future firmware)!!

Well the beta of 2.2 was dished out a while ago, so it really shouldn't be long.
The only glitches i have problems with is the safari crashes. Other than that i think 2.1 has definitely been the most stable fw for a while
Has anyone installed iSteamy from Cydia yet? LOL i have |

sorry. I meant glitches in a different kinda way
I meant things such as certain apps not going back to a default setting - eg when you view an sms and exit the app without going back to the main sms screen, the next time you go into sms you are back at the last message you looked at!
same with contacts, safari etc
But as mentioned on here before, these things are most likely gonna remain as they are. |

hmm mine always goes back to the default main SMS screen when i exit out when in a message. Unless i have manually turned Backgrounding on...
Whilst i was typing this post i just checked it out to test and i just realised that it's biteSMS that goes back to the main default screen and the stock SMS app goes back to place you were at last! lol. Did you say you jailbroke your iphone? Maybe this might be a small help to your niggles? Obviously mail, contacts etc is still a prob for you. The only alternative is to force quit everytime you exit the app |

I really would love to jailbreak... and I almost did. But after my last incident with the iphone I really do not want anything to go wrong with it again. Can't justify sending back to and from Italy again
I know the phone didnt go wrong because of the jailbreak - in fact, it went wrong before the jailbreak - but if anything were to happen again I would be truly gutted.
The one downside of having a non uk iPhone! |

Yeah i can totally understand your concerns there matey! The jailbreak wont harm it though, so it's up to you. But i know what you mean, it's working now in it's current state... and the thought of restoring it and jailbreaking etc and the possibility of something not working properly again is too much! |
