Hello guys,
Just bought an iPhone (from a friend of-course), who actually didn't do anything at all with his phone. I just got it jailbroken and that's all. Now I wanna start playing with that (install apps/games, do whatever i can do with it etc. etc. )....but first my f/w is 1.1.1.
So, to you guys my questions are:
1. what's the latest f/w, and how to revert iphone to it's original state and update to the latest f/w and then jailbreak it again.
2. which application to install (and how) to install 3rd party apps/games.
and finally any interesting link(s) that worths looking into.
Thanks a lot guys.

1.1.4 is the latest firmware still. 2.0 should be out soon
everything you need to get 1.1.4 onto the iphone can be found by downloading ziphone from http://www.ziphone.org/
it has links to download the firmware and instructions on how to set the phone to the right mode so that itunes will update that firmware onto the phone
you will then go back to ziphone after the firmware update and do the jailbreak/activate/unlock with just one click and when thats done you will find an application on the iphone called installer. run that and it will give you a list of available apps. I'd suggest in there downloading "community sources" as this ads alot more software available for download

@masseur
Thanks very much. You just saved my day. (Even though 162mb with a 10kBps line killed it ... )

Can we actually compare the Nokia E90 with the "revolutionary" iphone!? .. NO WAY! .. This is like comparing a luxury Restaurant with Burger King ..

You will need to restore your phone, but not reinstall the backup made. It must be corrupt. So manually sync everything again dont use backup.

By the way, to check your bootloader, you'll need to get BBInfo. I can't remember the source, but I found it through Google, so it's easy to find. |

how do you guys carry your iPhone around ? I had it a case, and was not enjoying using in on the craddle as it was cumbersome to take out and put it in and so on. I now have it naked and even removed the protective screen. I can't begin to tell you what a joy it is in it's natural state.

I've always had mine naked. during the week it sits neatly in my top shirt pocket and when casual it has a trouser pocket all to itself!

@ Masseur
Do you use a screen protector? The screen is scratch resistant, and even knowing this I initially had a protective screen on it.
I've removed it and it's just fine.

I've never used a screen protector on any phone and even now, holding the iphone up against the reflective light just right, I can see no scratches. The only problem with the screen really is that it gets a bit greasy but a small dab of soap on a wet cloth, and drying after, fixes that.
