@wakk0

yeh i know wat u mean ive got R1CBb001 and it works. its not a bug at all. if u look in yr manual it will explane but if u cant find it ill do it now.

its called "next word prodiction" just another fantastic creation SE have introduced to the k800. its been round for ages for example in the "orange spv" to be honist i think is quite handy, saves u messing around.

If its not working u may have to turn it on. to do so fallow these steps: messaging > write new > text message > more > writing options > next word pred. > on/off and yr done.

Can you note the loss of Games and Apps folders in 1st post please - seems mine is not the first time this has happened and I was surprised when O2 straight away offered a replacement. I doubt a re-flash will fix it as the software doesn't overwrite this area of RAM.

cheers

Just flashed my K800i with the new firmware on Wotanserver.com. Everything went well, and im bloody happy with the new firmware.

*camera does actually seem to take clearer pictures with less noise, although i didn't think to take a photo before i flashed to verify this. The pictures i did take before seemed a bit 'fuzzy' - the photos taken with my old nokia n90 were better by an order of magnitude, but the new software seems to have cleared this up.

*noticed a few subtle changes like the joystick no longer waking the phone up from screensaver, only the back key or the soft keys do. (which is handy cause the joystick is damn sensitive )

*Menus seem ALOT faster to load an navigate through. Im serious, i don't know if it was my phone or the file system in general, but it took 3 or 4 seconds for my file manger to display the contents of any folder (phone or card), now its almost instant.

*Prior to upgrade, i had experienced the keypad locking up a fair bit in java apps (in both games and opera mini browser) which has yet to repeat since.

*Music playback volume seems about the same, music player is identical

*Read/Write permissions for apps are still locked down, you can only set it to 'always ask' or 'no'

Thats about all ive noticed so far, im still playing with it.

<3 the k800i. <3 it hard

[EDIT]
Just plugged phone into PC; theres now a "Print" option along with the file transfer and phone mode options on the connect as menu

Thanks for this tip. I have to agree on the usefulness of 'next word pred'. I use it for my sms. I usually like to edit my sms before i sent it out. Problem is i add in a word, the faded word is out. I pressed continue and my friend reply my sms by saying ' what are you talking about!!'. haa

I hate that the joystick no longer wakes up the screen, I have always been using the joystick, and only the joystick, for this. Now I have to press different keys, trying to remember what app/menu is up and hoping that nothing harmful will happen when pressing key.

Permissions for (Java/J2ME) apps/midlets: That is expected behaviour for non signed apps. Signed apps can be granted all access that they ask for in the JAD file (correct me if I am wrong, have never programmed in Java, nor for mobile devices).

i almost encountered my 2nd WSOD for my k800i. My first was replaced since it never woke up from its deep sleep. I sold that replacement k800 which i never reaelly had a problem with. Eventually, i found a 2nd hand k800 which was in mint condition also at a very low price so i got it immediately. Just today after switching my sim card from my m600i, i actually felt the grief that i felt(WSOD) almost two months ago. i immediately took of the sim and connected the phone to the charger. it eventually booted up to the charging screen in which my first k800 never woke to. after charging for at least 15mins, i placed my sim card again and turned on the phone. Luckily it turned on and i again connected it to the main charger. i guess the WSOD is the worst fault/bug i have encountered with phones. i hope the next firmware would resolve this.

I got sick of wating for SEUS to provide the new firmware, so I upgraded to R1ED001 Europe 4 (generic Nordic) yesterday evening, connected to internet through my (now unlocked and debranded) old Samsung Z500 on my new 3 SIM.

No problems flashing, took 23 minutes (slower connection through the Samsung, probably old/bad drivers). Felt like it took forever to get the phone started first time after flashing, several minutes before anything happened, but I did not want to try to turn it off.

Noticed a funny thing when restoring text messages using My Phone Explorer, for each message that the phone received, the date and time in standby mode changed to the date and time of the message. Cute!

Addition: Just sent my first text message since reflashing, and delivery reports work for me, on my K800i R1ED001 on Swedish 3.

I doubt this is an issue with the firmware itself - it sounds like a problem with the flashing tool you used. Unless something is widely reproducable and a problem with the firmware itself i'll not add this to the first post - sorry!

Added the joystick not waking the phone from standby to the first post.
