I would highly recommend you Root your X10 and load this ROM to get an idea of how 2.3 will be like on the X10: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119508 there's no lag, its unbelievably smooth and is regularly updated.
I'll second that. I had a quick play with 2.3 on my brother's new HTC today. Brilliant. Just love how fast things load. Even the camera boots up immediately. Go for 2.3 it rocks!

So after a year and 3 months, my phone is about to die. I'm getting loads of dropped calls and can't receive texts until I turn my phone off and then back on. I seriously wish android was more stable, looks like I will be crossing over to the iPhone clan soon, unless they sort this problem out for me. |

It's more likely your phone getting old or worn out not Android itself

It would be nice to have the axis crossover bug fixed (I'm pretty sure this can be done with software). 4 point touch is unnecessary.
I think their continued support of this product is maintaining the value of my X10 as a second hand sale quite nicely. Imagine if it was still on 1.6, I'd never sell it now, but with 2.3 and a fixed multi-touch (maybe) my old X10 has a place in the market still.
It's certainly good that SE are paying more attention to aftersales support.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

Really hope so Miss UK.My X10 is sitting in the cupboard ever since I heard the update was been pushed forward to August.Using my Nokia E90 Communicator for the time being and quite enjoying the switch for the time being. When SE Gingerbread comes I will put it on the X10 and just hope that it brings back that spark that has suddenly for some reason disappeared.Custom ROMs are nice and all but they just dont feel 100% complete like a STOCK (even though the stock is usually shit and slow.) It at least feels complete.

Haven't been using my X10 that much either, been enjoying my Galaxy Tab10.1 too much with Dolphin HD there is nothing more awesome than Android on such a huge display, that said I'm still loving my X10, its a lovely device and still holds its own amongst all the borinf slabs out there, my upgrade next year will be a dual-core SE Android, the other manufacturers don't seem to know the importance of design, just look a all the people complaining about how difficult it can be to hold a Samsung Galaxy S2.

Would avoid BlackBerry, Hobbs, after having enjoyed the power and multimedia capabilities of iOS and Android you will be SO BORED with BB, WP7 would be the next best alternative, im not a fan but it is interesting and worth keeping an eye on, its appstore is growing fast, its now 25000 aqs strong and with Nokia joining it should grow even quicker.
