Hey guys. well i got the P990 debranded and its working better than ever.
only one problem . . . . . . i forgot the thing in Pretoria!!! lol. lucky i left it at my inlaws place.
@Franscois - warranty still stays even after debranding. i told them i paid for a phone with a 2 year warranty and they said no problems. it helped when they found out i was a Vodacom dealer.

It should also be added that I watched Mel Gibson's Apocalypto last night. It's good action movie albeit quite bloody, ok maybe not as bloody as Cannibal Holocaust.

@ wazarmoto, that is good. Does it count for contract phones? (Technically still buying the damn phone:) And how long does it take? I know how long it should take, but lets be real, this IS vodacom, and they take the proudly south african thing a bit too far by applying african time to business... also, what is the cost?
I heard lots of good mentions of apocalypto, also keen to see it. Surely it can't be more bloody than kill bill...? But then again, kill bill is so over the top, cartoon network would show it with a pg rating...after they resprayed the pu**y wagon to puppy wagon:)

@786KBR: The movie is absolutely brilliant, there might be some questions on it's accuracy but overall it does what every movie should do- entertain. If u want to know more about Mayan culture go to a library or study archeology.

I want to watch Apoclypto myself. But I would really love to watch The Prestige. Some great actors in that. |

@ siosal, pretend you are a student and make a movie day of it...we used to go to sterland for the day and do 2-3 movies. Hectic stuff-what headaches are made of! We would end up paying more for the parking than 3 movies, being R5 a pop(with a card)...the good old days:) yep, you guys guessed correctly, i got platinum status in like little more than a month...you dont want to know how many free movie tickets i have gotten. I stopped using them lately since movies are dog cheap.

@ Francois,
I skyped a friend in Mondeor last night, and was introduced to that Voda ad featuring Robbie Wessels's 'Leeu Loop' on youtube.
When I saw that meerkat, I tried to imagine your reaction to the thing's guest appearance at the end of the ad.

@ wanqa, the safety net in that whole thing is Robbie Wessels:the chances of me listening to him never mind watching a music video of his is closer to -70 than anything:) i once saw or heard about it, and must say i am surprised i have not seen it, untill the fact previously stated dawned on me:) lol!
But yeah, it does not seem to have caught on that much, or i have just amazingly avoided the right (or wrong) channels and venues...oh life has dealt me a good card for a change! I should start an anti-meerkat thread, where haters young and old can vent their frustrations and their pain about this unfortunate creature...i already have 3 little ones for the thread. Over christmas, forgot if i mentioned it or not, in front of the voda shop they had a dress up version. I could not stop laughing because half the little kids were terrified of the thing! They were crying! I was tempted to put on my camera, and get my friend to record a video clip of me beating it up...would have been rocking!save the children i say!

@ wanqa, that was funny:)
Our internet at work is not working. Cursed be the name of telkon...they said it will take 4 weeks to restore. That is simply unacceptable. An entire company disabled due to the lack of proper service. They are going to lose many clients very soon, as soon as neotel starts rolling out to the public. And lets face it, a telephone shack in a township has better client relations and better customer service. Bettering a service that is crap won't be that hard.

It counts for contract and prepaid. it takes about a day depending on the back log they have. but i honestly think that they should just drop the branding. it will save them more money than they think. Because it costs them money and TIME to put the branding on. then more money and MORE TIME to remove it.

Hello everybody,
It looks like the p990 & M600 were badly affected by the vodafone firmware. I almost ervy single one was returned.
I think branding smartfones is not a wise move anyway. I just left my fone at vodacare sandton the dude promised it should be ready in 24 to 48.
Thanks to jiteshraj & wazarmoto.
Davinciteam said they might offer online flashing of the m600 soon. |
