@ Kryptik, Brix & Francois,
Thanks, sometimes it's a case of press n' pray with cellphone pics, but it's great to see that advances in cellphone camera hardware and software is contributing to far more pleasing results.
It took about four shots of that flower at different close-up distances and focusses in macro mode and without the flash, until I was satisfied with the result.
The only editing done is resizing or cropping the pic for the forum etc., but I refuse to edit the image itself by using any PC pic contrast settings, image sharpness settings etc., as to me that would be blatant cheating and missing the point as regards cellphone camera abilities.
Now then, what can we expect from cameraphones like the N95 et al and beyond..? Bring 'em on!

@da krypsta: Although Naspers dominates most media outlets in SA, and indeed most of Africa, it has failed to make a dent in the mobile arena...some six months ago they launched mobizines without much hype. Anyone bought a mobizine lately?

@ brixster,
Look what's amongst the latest n' greatest 'action figures' to hit the shelves here...one of Mr. Dumile's alter egos! Sure it could also be used as a serious paperweight :

@da wanqsta: You are a bloody genius. Which stores are selling that action figure? Honestly though I'm more interested in the mask from the movie Gladiator as worn by Russel Crowe.

@ da brixsta,
There are several eBay stores that have them, but they fetch BIG money due to their popularity and (at this stage) exclusivity. They seem to be selling like hotcakes state-side too.
http://search.ebay.co.uk/madv[....]saatcZQ2d1QQsacatZ220QQsalicZ3
Even the massive UK shop, Forbidden Planet, http://www.forbiddenplanet.com hasn't got any for sale at the moment.
We saw several shops in Edinburgh, Conwy and elsewhere selling exact metal replicas of Maximus's gladiator helmet when we were on holiday in August.
These are readily available on eBay from about £26 including postage (approx R364).
They are made from 18 gauge steel...18 gauge is about 1mm in thickness, which is fine for a solid steel replica and still equates to just over 2kgs of helmet with these dimensions, which they virtually all share for this design:
Height Top to Bottom : 280mm
Inner Diameter Front to Back: 229mm
Inner Diameter Ear to Ear : 203mm
Circumfrence: 678mm
Iron Steel : 18 Gauge
Right, time to hit the sack now.
See ya'll later.

Hey jiteshraj, good to see you around here again.
I'm also particularly eager to see what the M600i's replacement is all about. Hopefully they'll put at least a 3.2mp camera in the thing.

@Warzamoto, try to contact KBR786, I am sure he will help you with vodacom and P990i @Brix, I guess you'r still using the N70 - yesterday I saw a chap with a N70 and that bluetooth GPS 'gimmick'. Surely it works as advertised (more or less) - the N70's display is a big let down outdoores thou (i.e. Sun) I hope the much awaited 95 will be better in that aspect at least. Now listen to this. On friday morning (02:45), after a wild, hispeed chase 3x police cars and 2x vehicles involved in house brakings, we managed to force one vehicle (vw golf old shape) to roll. (the other vehicle a 3litre old ford backi got away) nothing special so far - but listen to this: the criminals (4) run into the night (bushes). The police managed to get one - to my horror he had one broken (badly twisted left leg) and a twisted right ankle. huh - I call me a chicken, but if my legs will look like that, moving them will be the last thing in my head (never mind walking/running) The suspect was 'smoked'.

@ Mario,
Huh, we only discuss cellphone matters in this thread. LOL, you know I'm just pulling your leg.
@ jmash,
Have you seen 16 Blocks? I'm not a huge Bruce Willis fan, but that movie has the rare distinction of being a truly 'endearing' action thriller.

@mario: Indeed the display of the N70 is compared when compared to models that came out at the same time but the phone makes up for it's crappy screen in other departments.
Was at the cricket yesterday and took some awesome pics...I'll be posting the best of them in the photo section...just click on my "profile" at the bottom and a link will take you directly to all my pics.
@jmash: I've not forgotten about posting that CD to you..I've just been very busy but hopefully I can get down to it this week. Hope your girlfriend is enjoying her phone.
@da wanqsta: Now here's a sticky wicket if ever I saw one...is it just bad batting or has it been under prepared by the groundsman? Yesterday, during lunch, I had a look at the much-talked about wicket.
What concerned me was that on the second day of play one could clearly see that it had started to disintergrate from the huge pockets of dust created in the batsman't crease whenever an express delivery was bowled.

@ da brixsta,
Thanks for the pic. Yeah, just looking at the undulations along the white-painted crease line, without even taking into account the other patches, that certainly seems to be the case.
Taken from the Beeb, this is what Bob Woolmer had to say about the wicket:
"Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer says the Cape Town pitch used for the deciding third Test against South Africa is harmful to the interests of the sport.
A staggering 32 wickets have fallen in the first two days at Newlands.
"It's either extremely bad batting, wonderful bowling or something slightly wrong with the pitch," Woolmer said.
"The odd ball is unplayable and then you get out trying to score runs off a ball that is pretty mediocre. In Test cricket you shouldn't get these games."
The surface has offered plenty of bounce and seam movement as well as assistance for spinners.
And Woolmer added: "In my time as South African coach I never saw a pitch here behave like this.
"I wouldn't say it's a minefield, but it certainly is not one of the best pitches produced at Newlands over the past 10 or 15 years.
"Although I'm an advocate of results in Test cricket I know the financial implications are pretty high when there are two-and-a-half days of no cricket."
Woolmer is refusing to admit defeat, however, and said: "South Africa are favourites but we would be stupid to come here thinking we had lost the game. We'll certainly be trying."

Hey Mario, i heard about the arrests which you guys made, good work indeed!!
Brix, my dad was incensed over the condition of that wicket, had some really sharp comments over the competence of the groundsman as well as those officials whose pre-match inspections should have ensured a fairer surface.
I think we once mentioned a mobile game called Text Twist... Any idea whether there's a similar word game available, either Java or Symbian? Mrs.K has decided that its time for her to give Text Twist a breather, and is in search of something similar
