Nah 808 has superior depth of field due to the size of the sensor, you can see the background objects more blurred as an effect of this (bokeh). besides it's easy for 808 to do EV step up to achieve the same exposure that the Z1 has, totally uncontested IMHO

I'm impressed with Z1 for sure, and I stick to my belief that its camera is uncontested by almost everything sans 808 and possibly 1020 as well, and I for one don't buy the 15% larger sensor marketing by the new 5S since it's still smaller than Z1's and the latter can simply bin the full 20mp to an 8mp and give it artificially larger pixels by comparison. But I'll be honest, 808 is a league of its own, the sensor size and JPEG engine gives it trememdous advantage.

i think the phones comes close to each other, and i honestly prefer the photos that are coming out from the z1 to the 808 in that comparison..
Low light shots IMHO are a clear win for the Z1.
asside from the Bokeh effect, look at the image quality at the end and choose what you like..
by the way i was really impressed by the z1 Bokeh capability
and just think guys that that performance are in a hell of a compact superslim phone!!
the 808 is 14 mm thick!!!
while the z1 is 8.5 mm!

+1 sony could put a large sensor but they don't want to sacrifice the thickness |

^^ Well there's the QX100/QX10. QX10 is still slimmer than S4 Zoom while at the same time outperforms it on what matters most (image quality)
Z1+QX100 combo is headturning enough to drive DSLR/Mirrorless's mind nuts and to think that you're using the same device that they have

If sony would have stuck in a larger sensor and had a portion of the body be 14-18mm thick, I wouldn't mind it, but then I'd rather the sensor be in the middle so the lens would be centrally located like a camera, and perhaps the sensor could be a bit larger something alone the line of the 808.
what would be crazy if somehow sony managed to stick in a 1" sensor into a future phone.
I know the QX100 exists and perhaps I'll grab one in the future but imagine if Sony somehow was able to stick in a 1 inch sensor into a phone lol. |

Gs4 zoom gt no chance to breath anymore. It has super thick body with an average image quality |

GX/S4Z IQ is not average, it's crap, comparing them on image quality with standard P&S like Canon ELPH/IXUS or Cybershot W/T series would be ridiculous.

14mm is probably minimum - for 1" sensor there should be at least 12mm between sensor and lens - othwerwise its too wide to use

There's either too much sharpening or too less noise reduction, both problems would be very easy to solve with a software update.

IMO 808 beats Z1 in daylight but Z1 beats 808 in low light
Btw, Xperia Z1 is the king of smartphone full hd video recording. It even beats 808 and 1020. Just see on youtube

so after much debate.. i cancelled my order and am gonna wait and see if i can get my hands on C6906. This is after reading news today that AT&T finalized their purchase of more 700mhz (band 17) spectrum from verizon, which will drastically increase their LTE coverage. also, I figure it's less hassle in the long run. I can always switch to Tmobile since C6906 supports band 4 LTE and if i hate it, i can always jump back to AT&T LTE without having to deal with selling and finding a new Z1 to do so.
it means for now i have to wait a little longer to get my hands on the Z1.. it pains me cause I really liked that smartwatch deal. here's hoping there's a similar promotion when it does hit the states.. it seems clove is the only UK reseller offering that deal though. so possibly not. we always get shafted in the states with that stuff. they'll probably throw in a cheesy bluetooth headset and make it seem like it's the greatest thing in the world.
i'm sure most of you don't care about my personal plight. but in case someone else is in the same situation, it's some stuff to think about/consider.
