Hope they dont show psp like interface, it is already too boring. xmb is dumb!
if it going to be xmb, I dont see any hope for SE smartphones in next 2-3 years .
PK is it xmb ? Pls answer if you are permitted to.

That's also something I thought of, but the N82 (which Nokia is probably announcing then), while similar in many ways to the P5i, is technically lower-specced (no touch screen, smaller screen, no keyboard). Plus, it's in a different category.

As much as I sympathize with PK and his current situation of not being able to pass on further information, I equally dont understand why he started all this fuss? This is fanboys site and everyone posting about new announcements and specially about testing new protos MUST be aware that he will create a turmoil such as this thread now has turned into. SO as much as I still thing PK is credible I also think that this is quite a cheap manipulation of the people involved in here.
For egotistical or marketing reasons I dont know.... |

...interesting point.  (Maybe  themselves is behind the whole 'charade'...?! =) New kind of "word of mouth" marketing... or perhaps not so new?!

hmmm. maybe it's just me but i'm really getting frustrated with the P5i - or the lack of it. after my lackluster experience with P990, which I got rid of a months back, I really need a good replacement (which I reckon isn't the P1).
I had been very excited with with Pete's announcement that he has the proto and all, but there's one big catch - he couldn't show pictures or say anything more about it. His obligation to do so, I very well respect.
And now a huge bomb just dropped. The Nov 15th announcement is said to be unlikely after being oh so excited for it as well. hmmmm. And we all have to wait till February.
I know I'm sounding like a whiny teenager, which I'm not, and I suppose nobody really cares what I think. No one's forcing me to be an SE fan but what can I do? I'm hooked. I just wish I were not always frustrated half the time. |

Is it possible for you to make a mini-review after P5i is announced? Please check before though, because some of the phones, SE won't allow any reviews soon after announcement yet, so I don't want to ruin your job. I don't know why, may be so they could modify it later, but is it possible?

The possibility that SE is sometimes behind some of the fuss is 100%. It's a marketing strategy to get both user's feedback and to see if other companies have any reactions toward a certain handset.(My old friend told me this)
Though, sometimes some phones's spyshot came out when the prototype was already thrown away LOL(such as K850i). If a funny story, but K850i's proto was long gone before the pictures leaked, but I guess the feedback was warm welcome, so SE brought it back from the grave.(Same info from the same friend) |

They don't have any CZ lenses, and just to make this clear, the lenses are NOT from CZ, they're just "certified" by CZ (meaning absolutely nothing).

With all the hype generated last week about the new smartphone, partially fanned by seeing a photo *from* the device with the P5i name in the JPEG details, I certainly hope that there is an announcement this week.
What does worry me though is the potential launch time frame. I mean if PK and others have been using and testing a P5i phone, then why take another 6 months before they start shipping it?
I know traditionally have always taken several months from a product being announced, to the phone actually appearing in the stores but 6 months is beginning to smell like the P990i fiasco.
But that doesn't make sense either as the likes of PK and others have hinted the device is very good, stable, quick, etc... so why the long delay?
At this point these are only rumours so the shipping date may actually be much sooner (we can hope).
Having skipped the P990i and having almost purchased the P1i (twice, long story) I'm really looking forward to a new, market leading smartphone from as my P900 died so long ago and I've made do with a candybar phone for too long |

No - and there are some VERY interesting pictures there. The first could well be maria, while the second is close to what we've seen here but with a few interesting differences...

Yeah they're just concepts. If you look at the tops of the pictures, they both say "P5i", but they can't both be P5is! 
They also have a photo of an Esato forum post stating that the name will be P5i, and above that is one of my posts!
