You wanna swap a good few rays of warm sunshine for a few cold fronts that arrived here late last night from the north?
Time to get a willy warmer out...

Hello!
Check this out
‘3.6 Mbps and beyond’ for Vodacom customers in 2007
By MyADSL, 25 January 2007
Print || Discuss
Vodacom, South Africa’s largest wireless broadband provider, have some exciting broadband plans for local consumers.
According to the mobile giant, 2007 will be the year in which they will launch a 3.6 Mbps HSDPA offering. This is a basic upgrade of the current HSDPA service which will, according to its technology roadmap, deliver speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps.
These higher speeds are further accompanied by lower latency which means that Vodacom’s wireless broadband offering will become more suitable for latency sensitive services like online gaming.
It is interesting that Vodacom describes the planned upgrade as ‘3.6 Mbps and beyond’ which may indicate a possible upgrade to 7.2 Mbps, the next step in the HSDPA evolution.
Coverage & Growth
Vodacom is continuing its aggressive coverage expansion for data services.
Vodacom currently has in excess of 2000 HSDPA enabled base stations, proving wireless broadband services to 348 towns and cities countrywide.
The cellular provider currently has more than 100 000 active data card users and with its extended coverage and easy subscription, Vodacom is certain to grow this number substantially during 2007.

@786KBR: The only question I have is: How is this possible? Just an opinion, instead of trying to break speed records Vodacom and for that matter all the other networks should introduce flat rates on data.

I agree Mr Brix and think they should at least drop 3G and GPRS rates!!

So Gibbs lost his appeal.
Anywayz, I've been fiddling with the macro shot settings on the N73 again, and took this pic:
Decent definition on the focusssed areas, and not too shabby for a cellphone.
@ da brixsta,
So much for the SA coast having more 'moderate' temperatures. I see Pie Rats have eeked their way up to twelth on the table after their win last night, and Sundowns could eclipse Ajax CT at the top of the table if they make the most of their 2 games in hand.
@ Kryptik,
It seems that quite a few schools around parts of the EC are still waiting for stationery and books etc.

Hope you guys weren't too badly affected by the less than perfect 'planning.'

@786KBR: For now I'll consider all these claims by Vodacom as mere marketing hype...Like you I follow the forums on MyADSL and for months, if not close on a year, people have been asking for flat data rates and/or prepaid bundles for those on PAYG but up to this day nothing has been forthcoming.
@da wanqsta: It's hot down here today but thankfully I'm in an airconditioned office.
BTW, did you guys read about the South African "asylum seeker" who died in an Irish refugee centre? There's something very dodgy about this story.

Very dodgy indeed... I'd understand that alleged 'claim' of Zimbabwean heritage; they wouldn't get too far trying to claim asylum status as a SA citizen anyway.

@da wanqsta: She was married to a Nigerian and he probably convinced her to leave everything behind to live the life of a "refugee" in Ireland where benefits are reportedly very good- better that average annual income of a Nigerian. I just hope someone speaks to her family and get the REAL story.
