sorry 4 over inquiring (if I'm permitted to say so) then why is Mtn selling their modem for N25,000 and glo, starcomms selling theirs for only N7,500? do u know why?
I don't understand o, is Mtn doing their thingy (reaping us off as usual?

Maybe MTN's modem is unlocked. That is the only way the N25,000 cost can be justified. If not, then only retarded fools will buy a modem locked to MTN for that amount.

It does seem that the MTN modem is locked. At least, of recent, two of us have been unable to use a Glo SIM on it.

Happy New Year everyone. Took Mrs Coola to visit the folks in our hometown. Been trying to upload the pictures on Facebook, but noooo, the thing keeps messing up. The Facebook picture up-loader gives me hell sometimes.

I don't know if I can call it a "resolution", but I intend to hold God's hand this year and try to walk according to Heaven's Due Time (HDT) in all I do. So help me God...

Hi all. What are the pros and cons of using any of the 3G packages to power a cyber cafe in a remote area?

Cost?
Speed?
Bandwidth quotas?
Any kind of limitations?

Hi guys, happy new year to everyone. Coola, i hope these screen shots, will answer your question. It consists of screen shots from my phone as it concerns mtn 3G at it's best and worst. .

@2tek: Yes; Glo 3G packages have limits, as follows:

24-hour plan: 3GB. Outside of that, you are billed 5k per kb
Day plan; Night plan; and Weekend plan: Each has 2GB limit, outside of which you are billed 5k per kb as well

All packages are monthly.

@Coola: the data caps above will impact your cyber cafe service. Of course, being a rural area, the users may not have much to download (though I wouldn't hold my breath; just wait till they discover Youtube!)

Thanks a lot! I cannot run a cybercafe with such speeds. I am shocked at how low it can go.

Oh, well. I guess its back to the VSAT Guys. Does anyone know the current prices of VSAT equipment and monthly bandwidth?

@Oluyom: I noticed you have a Samsung Omnia in your arsenal, how do you cope with the battery? My boss has one and his battery does not last a full day. To think that he chose this phone over the iPhone 3G and Xperia X1. He had all three phone to test for 3days before making a choice.
