Honami with IGZO screen in the USA please! I hope it will be picked up by at least 2 carriers, AT&T/Tmobile and Verizon.
keep dreamin dude. maybe t-mobile.. but att and verizon won't pick it up easily.. and if they do, it'll be very late in the game. better start saving to buy it sim free

If T-Mobile is getting it, you're still paying sim free pricing, but with the ability to finance it.
I'm just hoping the international version contain AWS for both LTE and HSPA+ so it would be compatible with T-Mobile. I refuse to get a HSPA+ only device like the Z's C6602 for Honami. Nor do I want to get a carrier branded device, I despise those! Like my device nice and clean with no extra logos beside the manufacturer's.
@Random, and all other sources, anyone know what radio band would the international Honami have or if it will at least have AWS for both HSPA+ and LTE?

@Shotokan81
Isn't that how HDR works? 2 photos at once and then cherry pick the best exposed pixels from each.
I'm of the opinion that some of the XR5 info is not right and there is a bit of sensationalism being added somewhere in the chain. Interchangable lens mounts? Really?? I don't think so.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

All this XR5 news has me all giddy and excited
Now just toss in solar panels, a pico projector, flexible OLED display where the 5" phone folds out into a 10" tablet, and we're good to go! |

Yup ~14mm + lens mount is almost impossible, even Pentax Q cameras couldn't be that slimmer, but as randomuser mentioned it'd be similar to the lens accessories available for iPhone, which I'm thinking would be the case. now the question is would it make a difference in image quality? we can't tell for now. just hope those lenses are of high quality optics rather than the crappy 3rd party toy lens for the iphone

Sorry about that. Actually meant Honami, but for some reason I typed Z some how. Guess it was the remanent of my thought from the last paragraph? Haha |

Hmmm, I wonder if this whole lens thing will just be a one-off sorta thing where they churn out a couple of lenses and that's that, or if this will represent the beginning of an entirely new lens ecosystem with its own mounting standard.
Since Kaz took over Sony has had a major focus on crossing its vaious tech divisions and this is really an obvious sign of that. There're a ton of people, even professionals who use their phones to some degree to take photos. Why not cater to them by developing an entirely new class of phone photography? Get those people to not only buy your phone, but also invest in the lens ecosystem as that would lock them in and encourage them to stick with your devices, just like with pro cameras and their lenses. Quite smart, actually.
I mean, there are a LOT of people who want to be able to take amazing pics, but can't afford a mid-high end camera. Those same people CAN afford a smartphone though, usually if it's subsidized by their carrier. Those people can take very nice photos with the device itself, or if they invest a bit more into these lenses, you can take photos that are approaching what you can take with something like an NEX camera! Obviously not on the same level as an NEX, but the half way point between smartphones and an NEX.
IF this turns out to be true, I almost wish this would not have been spoiled as I would have LOVED to have had this first revealed to me during an official presentation. My jaw would be on the floor As it stands, if this officially gets revealed I'll simply have a smirk on my face |

Nice to see your 'professional' view when replying to this question, pal!
I was to much of an amateur to see it. Now it's clear that the whole photography profession is left with these two options: no zoom and zoom for 'wildlife photography'.
What an useless reply that was!
And I thought trolls were more stupid. Gotta say it dude, sorry about that. |
