I have been working with this blog for almost 1 ½ years. After lots of interaction and discussion, by far the most intense discussions lately were around XperiaTM X10 Android upgrades. However, I am happy to inform you that this has changed. We plan to bring an upgrade to Android Gingerbread for the XperiaTM X10 to generic trade kits end Q2 / early Q3 this year. We have heard your requests all along but until today have not been able to confirm this. The great work on our 2011 products XperiaTM PLAY, XperiaTM arc and XperiaTM neo actually has enabled us to start the work in a special project bringing Gingerbread to the XperiaTM X10.

Yeah, it would be a shame if those did go. It would make me think if it would actually be worth it. It's no use having Gingerbread if there is going to be a loss of functionality but I guess it's a personal choice ultimately.

SE will restore the faith of many of their customers by this act of goodwill, so kudos to them  Some of the features that'll be lost are no biggie to me. The face recognition feature is only good for laughs when I look at the mismatched faces more often than they are spot on. I made a mistake 2 days ago recording a family moment on HD, which I've never done, and had a hard time uploading 300+mb of a 7 min footage with the YouTube app as I had to be somewhere else and it wouldn't upload over data connection so I was stuck at home for some time. Continuous focus is irritating for me too as my videos are mostly recorded indoors where lighting is less than optimal and that's where the continuous focus struggles which can be irritating. Some of my precious family moments came out blurred because of it. So those features, I don't mind losing eventhough axing HD is highly unlikely and does provide me with a nice, high end option.

did they announce that the x10 wouldn't get anymre updates after 2.1 though?
if it has been just a rumour then I dunno who to believe anymore lol
