@angel: pls, from where u've been hiding, did u here of a man called coolapostle? He passed that way long ago and never resurfaced again!
@all: zain's "tru" campaign is a "tru" example that they have no new ideas! Apart from what i assume are typos in the advert (0.25k/sec calls on weekdays ie it should be 25k/sec or N0.25k/sec! Unless its actually 1/4k per sec which would make it the cheapest call rate ever in naija at 15k/min!!!!), its nothing really new for a company trying to come out of the shell of celtel. What happened to the 0802 that offered free monthly texts? We need new ideas like that. Maybe i should send them my CV? Or should i send it to amby? He can get me the job in managing thier products with a snap of his fingers! |

@dawn: i'm no expert, but have u tried repairing or reinstalling the norton, then immediately uninstalling? Before u do that u can also try to uninstal using the installation cd. If it works, just pay me my consultation fee!
@all: the thread is so quite of recent. With all the new companies coming in and with the relatively cheaper internet/ data rates, i thot this place would be a beehive by now!!! |

So Glo internet packages are finally out and at competitive rates too. It appears that both assistants I spoke to yesterday were correct to an extent, each gave me their own half of the full picture.
I have requested for comprehensive info by mail and will post it here.
The downside is that all plans require security deposits. Can you imagine? Security deposits for internet packages. This is certainly a first, and a bad move.

MobileFest Africa holds in Lagos this October.
If the organisers mean what they say (and I have no doubt that they do), this is what eNnovate could have been

@Brym: The outside-bundle rate of 5k per kb is a steal. That's one third MTN's cost. But has Glo solved the problem of unstable data services in various locations? I also hear that Zain has started SMS activation of WAP again, and 3G now available. I got 3G in my area but couldnt browse though. Will 1tisalat thrill us?

@pxt: the 5MB, 20MB, 50MB and unlimited belong to GPRS data plans quite different from the 3.5 data plans listed above. Below are the details of the GPRS (GloDirect) plans.
1. 5MB
Security Deposit = N2, 000
Monthly Rental = N1, 250
Credit limit = N1, 600
Inclusive Data = 5MB
Acquisition cost = N3, 250
2. 20MB
Security Deposit = N5, 000
Monthly Rental = N3, 500
Credit limit = N4, 000
Inclusive Data = 20MB
Acquisition cost = N8, 500
3. 50MB
Security Deposit = N9000
Monthly Rental = N7, 000
Credit limit = N7, 200
Inclusive Data = 50MB
Acquisition cost = N16, 000
4. Unlimited
Credit limit = No limit
Inclusive Data = Unlimited
Acquisition cost = N20, 000
Charges beyond the inclusive data is 1kobo/kb
@O'Yom: Glo is still unstable at my location, both GPRS and 3G. I rarely use it these days. I am on MTN's Nite Plan.
I do prefer the MTN plans, they are few but pocket friendly and easy to implement. I don't have to show my face at their friendship centres to use the plans.

the glo data pack sounded exciting. but my excitement was instantly killed when i realised that you will buy a glo line, call the impossible to get customer care to activate gprs on your line and go to a "friendship centre" to queue for hours on end to get activated. I think I will pass this one.
The CDMA guys are about to lose the data war in my opinion, their rates are very inflexible and they are now looking very exorbitant in addition. |
