Yep your hunch is correct. SMS is not a good tool for transferring quality stuff. SMS is just to send a pic to somebody's phone so they get a laugh and delete it.

Use bluetooth or data cable to transfer pics.

mine is the same one, emachines branded, right before the gateway buyout. great PC, my first laptop.
im a big desktop fan though...run a small business building them (im 19)...lotsa fun.
