has anyone had their t68 hang very often after the upgrade? I find lots of problems especially when the internal memory is near 0. had my phone hang many times while transferring data across ir to my laptop. another problem i found was that certain screensavers can't be deleted properly from the phone. the memory is cleared but it leaves a white box with a red x across it. has anyone had this problem too? would really appreciate some help. |

Ok, here's my story. I bought my T68 in Hong Kong, but it was made in Indonesia. When a friend of mine sends me SMS in chinese, I could read it, but I couldn't write in chinese. Guess that makes my phone T68m.
I've now upgraded my phone with the MMS software, called AsianLatin3. I can now choose Simple Chinese as menu language, but I'm disappointed that I still can't make chinese character inputs.
This feature is really important to me. I've been reading this forum and it seems like it's impossible to make an upgrade to T68i with chinese (told by TonyG)? Is this really true?
The chinese language had been there all the time. I could read chinese without even having the software (couldn't even choose chinese as menu language), so I would say that the only difference is the input method. If it is truely impossible to make such an upgrade, do you guys have any idea of where the problem is? I'd like an in-depth technical explanation, if anyone here is able to give me. |

Hi prefer>- It is true that the "i" series sw can only recognised your ORIGINAL sw in your phone at this moment. Meaning if your phone is T68m, and you have converted to T68mc just because you like to have the Chinese input. It will work on your T68m. But during the upgarding to "i" sw, they will only recognsed your original T68 sw and not the converted T68mc sw. All your converted sw in your phone will be gone and you are back to square one, that will be the T68mi that your phone can only be upgraded to. So now in this case, T68m can only upgrade to T68mi and T68mc can only upgrade to T68ic. There is no interchangeable. Sorry to say that, now the "ic" sw and an added advantage over T68mi is now all T68ic phone have the English T9 input. So all T68mc phone owners will be happier than the T68 phone owners.

TonyG >> Thanks a lot for taking your time to explain, Tony. I really appreciate that (although I've read this explanation of yours earlier already). I have been unaware of the possibility of making a T68m>T68mc conversion until recently. It would be interesting to know what exactly is done. Do you know that, Tony?
If it's merely a software thing, then I can't for the world understand why they make a software with chinese menu, but no chinese input. That's what I have at the moment. Also, if we know exactly what happens when converting T68m to T68mc, we would also know what needed to be done to make an T68i>T68ic.
What I feared was that the chinese input algorithm was burned into an EPROM or something, which obviously wouldn't be easy to attain by T68 users without a hardware replacement.
