Went back to the Mall this evening - Matrix Reloaded just hit the screen here in Romania and besides seeing the movie I also wanted to capitalize on the large number of Nokia owners that were present. First victim was a guy that named his phone "Zeus". I was quick to inform him that "Titans were here first", then I kindly suggested he changed his phone for a SE. Then I renamed my phone "Big Brother" (which currently is a huge success in Romania) and sent a lot of messages with "Big Brother is watching you" to other phones. Trouble is that the Mall was so crowded because of the Matrix launch that I was unable to identify the victims.
There are also some issues that I would like to draw your attention to. Since Nokia phones don't have the same name structure as our phones (i.e. first name/last name - they only have one name), sometimes they might receive the vcard reversed (insted of "The Matrix has you, they might receive "you The Matrix has"), irrespective of the settings in our phones (i.e. sort by first name/last name). Anyone aware of this? The right thing to do apparently is to start writing from Last name and then continue to First name when composing the vcard. I verified this on a friend's Nokia using IR (unfortunately he didn't have BT so I don't know if BT transmissions are handled the same way - I'll try to find a BT enabled Nokia and see if it's the same). Another issue relates to my phone - I'm using my trusty T39m (R4A008). My rate of success is a little low. Is this because of the phone/software (might also be due to the fact that in the Mall the people are constantly moving)? Another problem is that most of 7650 owners here have disabled BT. I was only a meter away from them and I could easily see their huge, brick-like phones and still the search was unsuccessful. Have they awaken from their moronic sleep?! Sure hope not.

Oh yes, Bluetooth is an very very great thing. I hope the mobiletelephone firms make mobiles with an better sending area in future. 100m is perfect 500m or more is better too.
I need an Bluetooth afterburner. Where can i buy it? This is an device on CB Devices that can make stronger the sending capacity.

yep, after reading you guys' laughs with bluejacking, I had to try it myself...
Yesterday I was in a beer tent at a festival and of course all the guys decide to show off their phones (mine was of course the coolest and I decide to switch on BT and see who's around.
Found two 7650's: 'Neil's Phone' and 'Ferret'. Well, first I sent Neil a Contact, (Buy SonyEricsson) He laughed so I then knew who it was. I went over and said hi, you must be Neil
Then I sent the same to Ferret. I spotted where he was when he looked at his phone, and I sidled over and stood behind the person standing behind him so I could watch what was happening. I sent him the same BuySonyEricsson contact four times, followed by a 'watching you' contact. This must have freaked him out, as he started typing 'f*** off you ****' at which point I walked over, looked over his shoulder and said "nice phone, does it do bluetooth?". He laughed too and didn't send me the contact
Amazing how many 7650's have this switched on!! BT eats your battery too, so it's silly to have it switched on all the time....
Spent the rest of the evening bt'ing videos and pictures to these guys in the beer tent kewl
Helen.

got another 'doh story here
was at another restaurant (Megagrill, PJ). saw two fellas playing with their 7650's.
good part: i had 2 7650's in range to be bluejacked and my other friend has a t68i too
bad part: didn't know those phones were bluetooth enabled, didn't even know they are 7650's till I ran search for a list of bluetooth enabled nokia phones
maybe i should print out pictures of bt nokia phones and carry it around next time... |
