i was messing with the startup and shutdown stuff earlier tonight...
when i realized that i accidentally deleted the SPLASH thing.. so i went back and tried to put it back in... but now nothing works... like my startup/shutdown images and my sounds.. they don't work.
when i turn the phone on, i just get a black screen til it comes on.
anyone know how to fix this?
also, i think before it got deleted, all it said in FAR was SPLASH... but when i tried to replace it, it shows as SPLASH.png

the filename must be SPLASH, not splash.png. Windows hides file extensions unless you tell it not to, so when you create a file called spalsh.png, it looks like it's only splash. You need to reveal file extensions, then rename the file to remove the .png bit.
then copy to the phone.
Other way, use far and rename splash.png to splash

Altough I can't upload the layout file at the moment, my post on the previous pages details how to reinstate the scrollbars. It's pretty straightforward I think.
Change the calendar bold text while you're at it (very handy change), as outlined by rocky the page for last. Cheers!

@ann3x10,
To change file extensions in Windows,
Load Windows Explorer (My Docs, etc),
Tools > Folder Options > View (tab) > Uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'.
Then navigate to your file, and rename (or in your case - remove the extension altogether). This is exactly the case in WinXP, I'm sure it wouldn't be very different in other versions, Folder Options may go by a different name, or be under the View menu or otherwise.
Many attampts to turn phone on
I find that after disconnecting my phone from the computer after using FAR, I must momentarily disconnect the batter before powering it on. You only need hold the power button down for one second, even though the device will take up to 5 seconds to provide any feedback on the screen after being used with FAR.
Copy Error
I can only suggest ensuring you have the latest version of the client and plugin. Other users have received this advice in similar situations. I'm not certain whether this is a solution or not - if someone else has a better take on it I'd be happy to go with that - but it is a starting pont at least.
Cheers!

I've never had any problems copying files with far, but I have had many problems at the start learning what to do and what NOT to do.
* For example, I didn't have any luck overwriting files - they need to be deleted first before new versions are copied in.
* I've also found that my chances of FAR recognising my phone when I click "enter the matrix" and attach the phone, are 10 times better if I exit out of far first before reattaching the phone. Now I just exit far when I shutdown the FS, I don't even try another SEFP session until I've closed far and opened it again.
* I've also found that sometimes I can't get sense out of FAR until I remove the battery for a while and then try again.
* Also, don't move the phone when it is being accessed - the fastport is not the most secure of connections.
* Try another cable if you can, maybe yours has a fault.
* Re-install usb driver for SEUS.
If the connection is good and you are not moving the cable or phone will it is being accessed, and you have exited far before the new SEFP session, and you have the latest usb driver (or if you do, have reinstalled it incase it got corrupted somehow), then this is what I think is wrong: either the phone file system is corrupted and needs to be reflashed to put everything back properly, or the hardware is faulty (assuming the cable connection is good. If this is dodgy you will get problems similar to what you describe. Phone may need reflashing even so to fix probs caused by dodgy connection).
So the first thing I'd have tried by this stag, is to flash the phone completely (after checking those precautions I mention above, especially the cable connection - clean the phone connector), to try and get some sense out of it.

eerrr could you elaborate on this.. me kinda slow.. coz what I do is:
- Plug the phone (turned on) to the PC; wait until it recognized
- Start FAR manager
- Open SEFP session and enter the matrix
- When Asked to Turn the phone off, then hold C;
- I unplug my phone, turn it off, hold the C, and REPLUG
- after recognition
- Do certain file transactions (copy/delete etc)
- Exit FS
- Unplug the phone, take the batt off and reinsert back
- Turn the phone ON.
am I being complicated on these steps? or there is a much hassle free way?

For those who need to remove the operator logo. Did they try changing the Opr Y1 and Opr y2 In the layout.xml file?
I haven't tried it because I need the piece of information especially when there is no signal.
y1 -> Y Start position
y2 -> Y End position
So if you set these off the screen or set y2 = y1 the logo won't be visible.
Try it out.

No bad side effect to worry about. It simply won't show anything when shutdown or startup (after splash screen). Should be fine.

I don't plug it in when I start far - I wait until I'm ready to enter the matrix. Then, when I'm finished, I don't remove the battery unless I can't start the phone. Sometime this might happen if the phone is disconnected before shuting down the loader, but otherwise I have no problems starting the phone, so don't worry about removing the batt.
There is a bug with the battery - after flashing or FS access, you will usually find that it take about 1-2 seconds of holding the on button before the phone wakes up. Now, this creates a sort of problem because people find the phone doesn't start straight away, so they press the button again, but all that does it turn the phone off (even though it looks like it's not waking up, it actually is but nothing is displaying on the screen). This makes it look like the phone doesn't want to start.
So when starting it, press the button for 2 seconds, then wait WITHOUT PRESSING THE ON BUTTON again and about another 2-3 seconds later the phone screen will light up and the phone boots up proper.
If you take the battery out, it clears the condition so that you only need the usual short press of the ON button, but this is slightly more hassle.
Since I've discovered the 2 second then wait trick I've not had to remove the battery (other than the odd accidental disconnect).
