nokia just churns out phones which are the same with no special features. now they've decided to produce fashion phones which look strange and are impractical. i don;t hate nokia but they really need to produce some decent phones.only reason people still buy nokia coz they have a reputation of being user friendly, but to be realistic the icon menu on the se phones are much easier to use. nokia still does dominate on the market shares but thats prob coz for ever se phone released nokia have like released 3-4 phones.
but if you look at the stats nokia sales are going down but se sales are shooting up!

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. We can't really compare phones based on just the opinions of others -- we have to have first-hand experience. Before getting a K700i (which I now use), i used Nokia 3310, 3330, 3315, 8310, 7250i, and 6600.
The thing I noticed about Nokia phones is that beneath the advertised features, they are always lacking in one way or another, giving them a toy-like feel after a while. In other words, they offer no depth or surprises, but many disappointments. One can even say they're deceptive! For example:
Insufficient memory -- I recently tried running TequilaCat BookReader on a 6600. It won't even open books that my K700i has no trouble opening, and fast. An unsuspecting buyer may think that 6600's MMC makes it better than the K700i. It isn't advertised anywhere that 6600's RAM is so small. Same thing with Series 40 phones, which restrict midlets to a certain small size (64kb on older models.) Some midlets you can install but won't run when the program uncompresses itself during runtime.
No EMS support -- Again, not advertised.
WAP 2.0 browser of newer models not backward-compatible with sites that were written for WAP 1.0 -- This isn't very well-known. But I've used 6600s and 7610s that display the WML code of Yahoo Mail, YM, and other sites, instead of the intended appearance of the pages; sometimes the pages can't be opened at all. Those pages I can view properly with 8310 and 7250i, which have a WAP 1.0 browser.
Poor infrared implementation -- If I use the 7250i all day (with the PC Suite, for example) the battery is almost emptied. In contrast, my K700i's IR doesn't seem to affect standby time. Also, with Nokias, you can't even turn off the IR manually!
Etc etc....
It seems that Nokia really aims at the fashion crowd, the non-technically-oriented people who are after the latest models and who would dispose of their phones without realizing its potential as a gadget, when a newer looking phone comes along. I know many such people.
Nokias radiate a shallow, non-permanent aura, inside and out. It shows in the disposable fascias with their gaudy colors and wacky designs. |

Theres nothing fashionable bout Nokia maybe the top of the range but the rest are u g l y...
7610- nice..... stylin but big and bad resolution
7210- nice......had its time
8310- nice..... toy like
I think SE phones are more stylish and better build quality... though I like Nokias buttons |

I still LOVE and LIKE my 'vintage' Nokia 7650, despite it's - 4MB memory . . . it's very dependable !

@JN - Yes, when the 7650 came out, it was in a class all its own. And it's still a dignified eye-catcher despite its bulk. Unfortunately, its Series 60 successors, despite some technological advances, aren't as classy, and by the time the 3650 came out, Nokia had begun to become seriously afflicted with the tendency to churn out disposable models, intended to be replaced with slightly improved variants in the space of a few months. The 3650 & 7610 keypads, the 6600's egg shape.... hardly the stuff classics are made of. |

@chili - I concur mate ! Unfortunately, after having acquired much of Nokia fone models in the recent past, the models 3650 and 3660 did not ENTER my list, as I did NOT like the contour of it's - shell . . . depsite it's having an external mmc slot. I too had a Nokia 7610, but did not like it's features, at the price it has last year (bought at Php 25K), I was not totally impressed at all, just had it with me for 2 months, after which, sold it and bought a brand new  K7 . . .

Hi @whiz -
I personally think that the 3650/3660/6630 shape is downright ugly. I can't for the life of me figure out why Nokia is perpetuating it. 
Jojo - Another important point, bud -- Nokias are overpriced. But you won't realize it unless you USE them!

@chili - I agree mate! But I don't buy the unit on it's initial public selling I sometimes wait for a couple of months after it's first intro. I guess the there are some fone models that are sold quite expensive too during it's initial selling in the market, say, like that of the P series . . .

Jojo - Nokias depreciate in market value very quickly. That's an indication that their main selling point is their novelty, and not any lasting quality.
One brand whose selling price DOESN'T go down at all (at least here in the Philippines) is SIEMENS. The M55 is ancient and it still has the same price! Ditto the SX1. |

@chili - Unfortunately, the Siemens brand did not 'click' much here in our turf mate  ! Though many are saying that it's a nice brand, their marketing strategies are quite 'prehistoric' compared to at least to that of . . . !

Siemens phones are awkward-looking. They don't pull off the daring designs with Nokia's panache; Siemens phones look rather dowdy, the geek in the class who desperately wants to be cool.
On the other hand, Siemiens' questionable stylings have put off those with more conservative tastes. So they're sort of caught in a design limbo.
Kudos to SE for sticking it out with classy, dignified designs, ones that are meant to last! T68i, T230, T610, T630, the P series, the K series. Let's forget about the T310 though.  |

Can the K700 open email attachments? Also i see that S60 phones have good browsers like opera and netfront which provides better internet experience on the note than default browserss.
