S700i / S710a housings? |

To be honest, this case doesn't look that good. The S700 is a nice phone and by putting this case on it you ruin the design of the phone.
A better way is cover the whole phone in plastic which is hard to see, and even if it can be seen, it still looks better than that case and it will also remain scratchproof.

*edit: indeed i meant case instead of cover/housing

Thats not a housing, it is a leather case.
A lot of people want the Black casing of the S710a to replace the housing of the S700i but these are hard to find. |

I have just received a black housing from www.djfinn.co.uk... via ebay....
http://search.ebay.co.uk/s700[....]opagenumZ1QQcoentrypageZsearch
They have silver, black and deep blue... for £7.45...
The black casing is made from black ABS.... so no paint to scratch....it is matt black and not glossy...but looks good... casing fit is good.... although there are a couple of details inside the case like location pins that are not present but the bits of the phone that need them are fixed in with double sided tape and are secured in the new case...
You need a jewellers screwdriver set.... £3 from Halfords or other retailers that sell them
Unfortunately....no chrome ring....but I have emailed them to see if they can source them...
At the min...waiting for an answer...but it is sunday....
Overall very please with it.... A little daunting at first... I used the japanese link pics as a guide that are elsewhere on this forum....
If anyone a little daunted by doing this... If the trust is there... I would gladly do it for you for a nominal fee plus post and packaging
Always a pleasure....

I will take a few snaps for tomorrow and try and get them up here....
Must say after a week..very very pleased with it...no creaks...
The only thing....it does not have the Sony Ericsson script on the new screen or on the battery cover.....
I used the original screen......which is held on with double sided tape.....
Quite easy to do....as long as you put the screws back in the same locations....
There are 3 different size screws....and the screws that hold the rotating brackets are the smallest..... Good luck....

Where I could find and replace the metal ring of the camera? I scratched it in my pants and I would like to only change this part. Can a dummy phone do the trick?? |

No. The dummy wont. I have one. Different material but I wouldn't risk dismantling mine just to replace one part. Get a good case for your S. Its worth it.

Upon suggestion I'm reposting this here (sorry if it's OT a bit).
I'm a proud owner of S700i and I'm very satisfied with it, but I stumbled upon a problem here. Somehow the dust entered between the upper glass and the screen display itself and I don't know how to make it go away. It is very iritating as at the daylight its quite visible (those damn white thingies). So what I'm asking is if there's a way to clean the screen (behind the upper glass) or is it possible to pull off the front mask to do it without opening the whole device. If some of you people who switched your housings can give me a hand on this one...
Thanks in advance for any info. |

I bought some housings from ebay, one black and one "original looking".Not kidding you,i spent about 5 hours taking my s700i apart . After i got it disassembled i lost one of the microscopic springs from the microphone, after a while i lost the other one too.
That i got fixed after i replaced them with two slightly bigger ones. After i had got everything together again i noticed the swivel didn't work as it used to,because of thois the camera just kept telling me to close the phone or quit cameramode .I couldn't figure out why...at first. After a while i noticed the new housing didnt have two of the metal parts that the originals had,one was the bit in the upper part, has something to do with the speaker, and the other part is a small metal piece that is the part that reacts when you open/use the swivel action.
Some other things i noticed:
The memcard sticks with the new housing.
The logo looks just crap (on the battery cover, see picture),the Quick share sticker was alright, the screen was just awfull, the borders that are supposed to be black, was darkblue and not very well made at all.
So there are some things to consider if you want to try this. And a big minus is that the warranty flyes out the window after this.

Thanx i have been around in "Stealth mode" i haven't posted anything,i have been reading alot thou.
About the housings: Yeah it's not that it's "hard",but as someone said before it takes damn long to dissasseble the phone. It can be risky if you break/loose some parts, mostly it's time consuming.I started at about 11:50 just before dinner time, and finnished around 5 in the afternone ,but on the other hand i don't usually crack up my phones, and i lost some parts that also slowed me down, heheh.
Here is a damn cool "head turner" kind of housing:

Ps. My phone had the Philips screws, not the T6 ones.

@axxxr I didn't know you had an S700.
After reading all theses housing stories, I'm thankful to have my S710.
When I first saw the phone, I loved it, the specs the syle. Once I knew there would be a black model, for sure I was sold on it.
I guess my point is.... I'm lucky I don't have to go through the housing problems. Because I truly love this phone in black. I don't know why SE doesn't market the housing... I guess due to warranty problems it can cause.

Yeah it would be cool to get the original housings. They could change them at a service center.
Off-topic:
Does any one know if the "German s700i" has the annoying shutter sound.I don't have it on mine bought in Finland.
I have R3K004 prgCXC125935_EU_1_T
And cam software version 1.0
