O2 K700 Online Update |

I sorted my inability to upgrade problem, I returned the handset to the O2 store that it was purchased from and invormed them that it was unsuitable for the purpose for which it was sold (namley making phone calls as with all the lockups and other problems I couldnt use the handset reliably), they offerd to replace it there and then with a different brand of handset, but as I actually like this handset I opted for a new boxed handset, and despite this being in an o2 shop the new handset is an original unbranded SE one that has upgraded first time .
This might not help those that have ahd the handset for a while but if its less than 28 days old they are legally obliged to replace it if its 'unsuitable for the purpose' |

being "fit for purpose" is i would have thought be in relation to making and receiving phone fax and data calls and using 02's "enhanced" services such as mms/sms.
The handset is supplied in a state fit to connect to the o2 network and if they want to "configure" it to make using there services easier to use, ie o2 branding they can do.
O2 phones are supplied network unlocked, which is above and beyond most others.
I think you were lucky on this occasion! |

Apart from breaking your warranty agreement I still would prefer to do it the offical way.
Has anybody tried it recently or heard from O2?

Hmmmm....I have a K700i on O2, I upgraded to it at the end of July as an existing customer over the phone. It doesn't seem to be branded and I have just been able to update to R2L001 using a DSS25 online. One thing I like about O2 is that they don't seem to butcher their phones too much, although wtf block the online updates? Makes no sense at all. Mine works with it tho |

Did it have an O2 screensaver and an O2 icon in the top left of the main menu?!

The reply is rather ambiguous!
"We are currently in the process of getting the service for the device's and will have an update on this within the next 14 days.
I will email you back once we receive the communication and update on this issue."
It sounds rather like O2 are planning to provide access to the SE Online Update, and will get some information about when this is happening in 14 days.
If we are really lucky the 'information' will say that the SE Online Update is now available for O2 users, so it will be switched on on around 14 days.
If we are really unlucky it will say that they don't plan on allowing access to the service.
I'm guessing it will be somewhere in between - e.g. it will be available on (for the sake of argument) December 1st.
