The fact that the phone is Dual-Mode (not Dual-band) makes it available for use in GSM networks.
So no problem there...

according to the specs, i think this model will never hit the market unvodafoned... it will only have 4mb internal, and 16 tones polyphony.. its to keep the price down i think... a se edition would have more of both i guess

@ everybody who has tried it (e.g. rsf)
how good is the screen? it has lower resolution than some of its competitors but how does it appear in reality? how well does it perform compared to the sharp-phones that have 320*240? |

as far as i can tell it is the same screen as the k700i. the Sharps and the samsung Z110 both have 320*240 screens. the 6630 is the same as other nokia phones in the class (e.g. 7650/N-gage) and the motorola screens - the e1000 is 320*240, and i'm not to sure about the res on the V980/c980. i haven't really checked.

Wow, I really love that phone! The best SE phone yet? However, my hate for Vodafone is bigger than my love for this puppy, and I must say that if it's going to stay exclusive for them, I'm going to lose alot of respect for Sony Ericsson. |

It's not the same screen as on K700i, it's same resolution but the one on V800 is bigger in size.
Also, things like when viewing pictures they cover the whole screen on V800, and only a part of it on K700 makes the V800 look even bigger.
The polyphonic ringtones; Well, I can't hear any qualitty difference on K700 and V800, only that on V800 they doesn't sound "shut in", as with K700. (the speaker is better placed on V800). |

Still a great looking phone. I like the black housing.

thanks for the quick response!
what i actually meant was what YOUR opinion is about the screen. i already know the resoultion so my question is, do you notice big difference between a 320*240-screen and the one that V800 has?
cos thats pretty much the only thing that is not top notch with this phone. if there was not a big differnce then i dont have to be bothered by that any more and happily dream about this phone 'till it comes out, and then buy it |

It's really a great phone. The very first sight I thought that it's K700 + UMTS + clamshell design + 1.3MP camera + MS Pro DUO support, but it's a bit even more:
"The V800 supports multi-tasking, allowing users to make the most of the phone’s functionality by having more than one application open at a time. Users can, for example, call a travel agent to discuss holiday ideas and simultaneously download pictures of their holiday offers."
And there are some more keys, I'm just wondering what can be the one with the nine squares?

The 9 squares one is probably for their UI menu.
Would seem strane though as most of the new SE phones are using the UI 12 which is basically a menu with 12 items on.
That would be my guess though mate, a button to access the menu screen |
