Anybody notice the red led in the On/Off button?
Or is it just that i didnt notice it before?
It was flashing for a while but seems to have stopped.
I take it that it comes on when on charge or low battery?

Firmware upgrades are free during the duration of the warranty. Just bring your receipt.
But if you got your phone from overseas or from an unauthorized dealer, you'll have to pay for the upgrade. Before, they were charging 500 pesos for it, I'm not sure if it is still the same.

I agree with you, however the battery life is sooooooo(ran out of "o's") much better now that there has been a software upgrade. I would say that it is easily 75% to 80% better than before. |

i checked with SESS in Makati and they said they don't do upgrade for chinese version K700. they can accept non warranty (except units with chinese characters on the keypads) units but you have to sign a waiver and there is no guarantee that the upgrade will work. it can even destroy the phone. they claim that Sony Ericsson Phils did not provide them with any software that supports upgrade for chinese version K700i. on the other hand, semicon said they can accomodate non warranty units (even chinese version K700) but they are not sure if they can upgrade it properly. does smartnet accept chinese version K700 for upgrade? is there anyway i can get an upgrade in the Phils for my chinese version K700? i don't want to take the risk at semicon. previously i had my non warranty T68ie upgraded at sony ericsson at sm north edsa but now they only accept warranty units purchased at authorized dealers. pls help. thanks.

I take it that you have a K700c.
Since nobody (authorized dealers) sells the chinese version here, philippines won't bother with getting the firmware updates for such a version. But just like the T68 series, after a while they did get firmware updates for all the versions. You may have to wait awhile before the dealers get a version for your phone.
Sorry if they couldn't accommodate you. But as was posted before, that why we pay more when we get our phones from authorized dealers, so that we won't have to experience headaches in getting our phones fixed/upgraded.

I bought my k700i from singapore, i wanna upgrade the firmware here in Australia but SE agent refused because they said it might damage the phone due to different language pack issue.
What you guys think?
