I'm a bit ticked off with voda about this. I like vodafone, they are a good network, but this stunt is a bit low for me.
As my contract with run out next month I gave them a quick call to see what they could do.
I explained to them that I can get from o2
K700i unbranded
200mins xnetwork
500 free txts
and able to keep my number.
They matched everything but they wasn't able to give me an unbranded phone of course.
So I say, fell well Voda. We've had some good times but it's time to say goodbye. XXX

Mine is a Vodafone phone as well but it doesn't seem to be branded. In fact, conversely, it didn't even have Vodafone Live! on it at all at first - the internet page only went to the SE homepage. I had to phone up the Vodafone help desk to get them to send me settings to install Vodafone Live! on the phone .... does it depend where you buy the phone from in the first place, I wonder ? |

Argh...I just got my Vodafone branded K700i today, then came onto here to figure out why mp3 ringtones wasn't working!
...and to think, I was just on this forum a few days ago looking to find out the latest SE phone for my upgrade!!!
Lucky for me though, I rang up Singlepoint just before and they said they'll exchange my crappy Live branded fone for an unbranded one! Wicked!!!
P.S. For that person who said, why don't you just stop buying Vodafone phones and stop complaining....that's probably because most of us didn't realise until it was too late!!! |

Did you never notice the huge amount of Vodaphone advertisements and branding on your previous phones ?
I suppose you wouldnt if you've only ever used Vodaphone.

I bought a Vodafone branded K700i in sweden a few days ago and also noted the missing mp3 feature. I called the store just before closingtime and they said I could exchange it for an unbranded one the next day. When I got to the store the next day the employee that told me I could change it wasn't there and the one that was told me I had to pay an additional $100 to get an unbranded one. I was rather pissed by that time so I returned it with the 18 month agreement I signed.
But, as I've been buying quite a few phones from a store in Sweden called Ocom (now only selling Vodafone) I went there to see if they could help me restore my trust in Vodafone. I explained what happened at the other store. Said and done, I got an unbranded unlocked K700i, an EVA 128Mb Mp3-player and the 18-month agreement without having to pay any additional fees.
So it seems it's pretty much up to the store, not Vodafone in general, to decide wether or not you can have an unbranded phone or not.

I don't want to leave Vodafone, but I do want them to change this, as it is one of the key features of the phone. Can I ask you all to drop Watch dog a contact if you have the same issue and feel cheated.

Hi there,
Wonder if you can help? I have just purchased a Sony Erricson K700i direct from Vodafone.
One of the main features of this phone is MP3 ringtones, well it would be but not on Vodafone, as they have disabled this feature?
I feel that I and many more have been misslead.

The full spec is listed above and _no_ where does it tell that this feature does not work on Vodafone except in the manual when you have bought the phone!
Thanks

I sent an email about the lack of useable MP3's and they sent this reply.... and i quote..
"Thank you for your mail.
This problem your are experiencing with your k700i is because all of
the handsets that were sent to vodafone from Sony Ericsson didn't have the MP3 software enabled on the handset.
Vodafone has taken this up with Sony Ericsson and there is a software
update that will be available to you very soon. obversely there would be
no charge for the upgrade and all you would have to do is take your
handset into a vodafone retail store. for more in formation on this
please contact one of the customer service lines below and a customer
service advisor will be more than happy to help."
Copied verbatim, so the spelling isnt mine!
I phoned vodafone and the person i spoke to wasnt aware of any problem, but went away and came back after a minute or so searching to tell me that Vodafone will have a firmware upgrade available in October that will allow the use of MP3s as ringtones. (as they were intended..) Apparently.
