Hi, I tried connecting a z1010 with no luck. Everything goes fine when setting up but the web page won't load on z1010 browser. I can't use the java one coz it say its expired. Is it possible to use the z1010 default browser instead of the one mentioned here?

For the IP address...

Do I put my network IP: which is like 10.0.0.3
or my router/gateway IP: whihc is like 10.0.0.2
or the internet IP: which is dynamic from time to time.

I saw a person who had successfully tried this on his/her z1010. Could you please help me?

Under Data Accounts -> New I only have 2 options. PS data and CS data. I created a PS data account thinking that was the GPRS equivalent. Am I right? That option had the same fields as mentioned by jamshed. I'm with 3 Australia and I wonder if they have disabled GPRS data account option. Coz when I try to edit 3 services accounts it says they are locked. hmmm.. Does anyone know in a standard z1010 whether there should be an option for GPRS data account creation?

3 doesn't use gprs on edge (sometimes called 2.5G). They use umts (3G) which has a max. data download speed of 384Kbps! Depending on your internet connection, you may be better off using the phone as a modem, rather than sharing the pc's internet with your phone

But if you want to connect your 3 phone to the computers internet, you probably need to create a new ps profile (the existing one will be locked so that you can't change three's homepage and other settings).

You may have to do some investigation of the settings required for the new PS account to get it working properly. *I Think* that cs means a standard dial up account (use the phone to connect to a landline dialup internet provider)

As mentioned in an earlier post, the J2ME implementation in the SE phone does not support ports other than port 80. If your Java based Instant Messenger uses port 80 then it should work. Any application on port 80 will work. Applications which use other ports will not work.

Hi, folks. I followed jamshedd's excellent post and finally got Webviewer working in my K700i. I can navigate in the phone through my laptop's Internet connection. However, so far I've failed trying the browser to open local network IP addresses. For instance, I have a web application running on my laptop, listening at port 80. My laptop has a local dynamic IP address (192.168.1.100) assigned by my wireless access point. I would expect Webviewer to open this application when I try the URL http://192.168.1.100 at the phone, but unfortunately it seems Webviewer is looking for the address in the outside world. Can anybody help me?

Can anybody explain me how the communication between the phone and the PC is working? I mean, I guess Webviewer as a J2ME midlet is trying to open a HTTP connection with a URL. However, I never assigned a IP address to the phone (Both the Data account's IP and DNS fields are blank). All I see is a serial communication between the SE ConnectionProxy and the phone. Is the proxy implementing a sort of TCP/IP over the serial link? If it is, how can I know the phone's IP address? Thank you for your help; I really would like to understand how this is working.

Has anyone got this working on a S700i? I've followed jamshed's instructions (with the K700 modifications) and am trying to use the built-in browser (which is HTML capable) but with no success. The connectionproxy is connected to the phone but when I request a webpage in the browser the connectionproxy does not register any incoming or outgoing traffic. For this reason I suspect my phone is not routing the traffic correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I could do it with my S700i, both with USB Data cable and with bluetooth, but only with java apps like WebViewer or JBrowser (for wap sites) curious is that at SE wap site JBrowser doesn't parse the model and a message appears that SE wap site only works with SE phones.

With the integrated browser I couldn't connect to any site, even worse some times it activated the gprs connection.

I hope some day SE has a solution to use the integrated browser with the connectionproxy.

I guess you need local administrator privileges on your PC to install the J2ME SDK.
