well actually i prefer the xbox controller to any of the others. i always get a thumb cramp on the ps2 after about a half hour because reaching all the way into the centre from the widest point of the controller feals unnatural. i find the xbox controllers a more natural configuration, but i wouldn't rate the xbox controller "s" as better than the old "duke" controller because they are suited to different styles of games.
my other (main) reason for choosing xbox was that i really wanted the exclusive titles (Halo, Obi-Wan, a couple others) and the only two (yes TWO) games i really enjoyed on ps2 were coming to xbox anyway. i think the declining number of exclusive titles and the advent of online console gaming (xbox live being a far superior implementation) have narrowed the gap considerably. i believe the ease with which games can be ported between pc and xbox will also become telling - especially since it costs more to buy a decent graphics card for your pc than it does to buy a console, with change to spare for games.
