re billing problems on postpaid accounts
i never had such problems with Globe. can't speak about the other SPs.
re on post- and pre-paid accounts
up to a certain point, the difference would be insignificant. if you're spending over 2k on prepaid credits a month, and you have no problems with postpaid documentary requirements, or concerns about privacy and security, you could be better off with a post-paid account.
let me clarify about the privacy and security thing a bit. i'm not saying that you're records or calls aren't private or secure when you use postpaid accounts. what i'm saying is that, if you're the kind of person who wants/needs the convenience of changing phone numbers easily, then you're only choice is prepaid accounts (unless the NTC's manages to require the SPs to require prepaid account registration.)

i CAN afford paying my bills (actually my dad pays for it, estudyante palang kase ako) PERO.. ayoko lang ng may nang iisa... i spent more than 2 thousand (per month) these past few months.. ang sinasabi ko lang, they are advertising na consumable ang plans nila pero di naman talaga.. i hope u know what consumable means. and free text as well!!! not sms discounts! and by the way, i prepared a letter addressed to sun, but i don't feel like sending it. baka wala lang mangyari.
@ jaemee
shocking nga talaga kahit sa sun kung impulsive kang gumamit.

kahit na input mo na ang settings that you once used to surf wap sites, di mo pa rin yan mapapagana now hanggat di pa nili lift ng globe ang blockade sa mga sites. i always heard na may paid apn daw ang globe na pwedeng ma access ang mga wap sites pero my bro tried it to no avail. i was referring to this apn: internet.globe.com.ph which i think is only used as apn if u're gonna use ur fone as a modem. ito lang ang alam ko. |

Good for you that your Dad pays for your bill. Anyway, i inquired with Sun and ang Consummable are the following:
- calls Sun to Sun
- calls Sun to other networks
- International calls
(so in short, CONSUMMABLE ang plans) but this limited to the above mentioned. E.g. I'm at Plan1000 so may P1000 worth of calls ako.
On top of that are:
- GPRS thru internet usage
- MMS
- International SMS
I agree that they compute their FREE SMS as SMS discounts. And thats ok for as long as they now how to show the computation of the discount.
Problem ko with them is that i haven't received any billing since December! I go and pay the minimum at their branch (Shang Sun Shop) every month but i refuse to pay the amount exceeding. Why should pay for somethin i haven't seen if it's valid or not? Baka may dispute yun or what not.

yeah, aware ako na sinasabi NILA na consumable ang plans nila. alangan namang itanggi nila. KASO, they REDEFINED the word "consumable" by offering sms and voice call discounts... try to see your billing statement, you'd see there that they have summed up the monthly service fee and the usage charges, which dapat, di na kasama yung MSF dahil nasa usage charges na yon... for example, i have made 1000 peso worth of txt messages and voice calls, and ang plan ko lang is 600... ang ginagawa nila is add up the MSF (which in this case is 600) tsaka yung usage charges (1000) WHEN in fact, since lumampas na ang consumption ko sa 600, di ko na dapat babayaran yon at yung 1000 lang ang babayaran ko dahil yun yung na use ko...(plus ofcourse the VAT)... ang hirap i explain but i hope u understand... ngayon, kung ang usage charges ko ay worth 550 lang and my plan is 600, its clear to me na ang babayran ko ay 600 at hindi 1050.. BUT INSTEAD!!! they sum up the MSF, usage charges and VAT MINUS the discounts they offer!!! that's how they define CONSUMABLE, they compute for SMS and Voice call discounts in a way we do not know, at kahit i explain pa nila, CONSUMABLE in its real context is different from DISCOUNTS!!! and they say they got free text??? HANAPIN mo at makikita mo lang ay discounts.. LABO noh? ang sabi ko ngayon, take away those discounts, we dont need them, what we need is REAL consumable plans ANd the free text allocations (in my case its 450). that would definitely show up the difference.. KAYA nga po, i'm asking the HELP of some SMART ("ADDICT MOBILE") subscribers and/or GLOBE G-FLEX subscribers to please scan even a single month of your billing statement and send it j_18_rcdelta@yahoo.com for evaluation purposes only.. makakaasa kayo na STRICTLY for evaluation purpose lang ito gagamitin. (so that i'd know kung same ang system ng SMART,globe at SUN, if so, then i think i should buy a new dictionary, maybe the meaning of consumable has changed over a period of time..) PEACE OUT, have a great DAY ahead! ciao!!!

as others have said, using post paid and prepaid have their own disadvantages and advantages. if you have the money to burn and the control to use it, might as well go for postpaid because the agony of not having a load and hindi makabili (dahil no money yet, budget constraints, malayo pa sweldo, etc.) and hindi maka gprs, wap or hindi makatext ...well you know the "miserable" feeling ( what is the use of having all those high end colored phones kung wala namang load db!!!)
advantages of post paid:
1. lower cost acquisition of phone and you could sell it at prevailing market rates be it near brand new or 2nd hand(talagang used). for example, bought nokia 3100 last november at 4k under plan 1335(addict mobile retention program) and sold it at 8k last month. tubo ka pa 100% after pinagsawaan mo yung unit. i think normally that's the norm here under "mobile phones for sale" forum be it globe, smart and especially the smart amazing phone.
2. obviously you can make a call anytime as long as it is within your credit limit. of course, make your credit limit at minimum so that you could pay it easily and always within control. i think for smart/addict the minimum credit limit is php 2,000.00 now. before it is around php 2,500.00. i dont know with globe. with sun i think your credit limit is your monthly plan x 3 per month.
3. for addict mobile billing, i dont have problems with it. everything is in there: calls made, free texts consumed, free minutes, payments.
my only gripes is sometimes yung last 2-3 days na consumption before cut off date ay hindi nasasama sa present billing kaya nasasama sa next although it only happened to me once after being a smart then addict subscriber for more than a year already.
disadvantage of post paid:
1. true true true. if you dont have the budget for it, then sasakit ulo mo dahil sa utang. as a reminder, always start with the minimum plan then gradually upgrade later if pocket permits. " spend within your means" .
For Sun:
1. reading from the above, mukhang nakakalito pa rin pala ang billing ng Sun. Free texts vs. discounts, consumable kuno, etc.
FOR OTHER SUN SUBSCRIBERS OUT THERE, PLEASE ENLIGHTEN US MORE BEFORE MAKING THE PLUNGE.

sun billing, have a problem with "DISCOUNT".
tama naman actually yung principle nila.
kaso, yung lumabas sa discounts ko, meron silang "nakalimutan" isama na certain discount... KAINIS!!!

pareng abaya, sorry for a generalization of my post. it is meant for anyone who have not used other network's services.
i have used both globe and smart, as postpaid. during my stint with globe, billing was terrible and charges were not clear, on top of FCA, VAT, CERA, etc. and let me clarify that, it was then, i don't know now. when smart launched their gsm, i was one of the first consumable subscribers. never had a problem with billing until now. i still have an old consumable plan. my wife has addict mobile plan, and seems to me to be in order too.
no comment on sun. never subscribed with them personally, yet.
it will be extremely beneficial if adv99576 indeed will be able to post statements online. i am even offering mine, which includes almost all services, except download of ringtones, games
ynohtna, made a good point. in addition, on smart network, it will be more difficult to lose control. how is that? because they have control. for example,
let's say your credit limit is P3,000, when you reach 50% of your credit limit, you will be bombarded with SMS informing you of such. when you exceed you credit limit, you're barred of outgoing SMS and Voice.
when you are still within you credit limit, and you have a past due, the past due cannot exceed by more than two billing periods, otherwise you'll be barred of outgoing SMS and Voice.
so, we have here two barriers, one is the credit limit, and the other is payment delinquency.
personally, i think this is good.

ayon sa Sun's latest advertisement: ".... with FREE CALL VALUE, all plans are totally consumable." --- very illogical to me... thats how they define consumable.... haayy buhay... |
