I have never looked into it....

Yeah, its working away fine !!
vodafone sent me the settings when i rang up saying that I couldnt use GPRS and they said it was my settings??
I think GPRS is still a bit dodgey at the moment, there was problems at the weekend, I think its working now.

...to be honest I gave up on GPRS with both vodafone and O2 ...I just couldnt get it working at all. That was a few months ago, maybe I'll give it another try ..mind you I only use my fone as a modem for my jornada and only for e-mails.

have you noticed products are much dearer on the Irish version of the expansys website?

example is the Audiovox Tri-Band GSM/GPRS CF Card Handset Only Price: €309.95 (€256.16 exc.) at today's exchange rate would be £213.86 yet on the UK site it is only Handset Only Price: £188.00 which is only €272.49 a difference of €37.46. or a sterling difference of £25.86 !!!

http://www.expansys.ie/product.asp?code=RTM8000
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=RTM8000

even if I order it from the uk and get it delivered it is still cheaper than ordering from my 'home' site !!!!!
http://www.expansys.com
http://www.expansys.ie

I've emailed them to find out why ????

Deffgoat,

Don't be too hard on expansys. There are some cases where it is actually cheaper to buy on the .ie site. Believe it or not!!

http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=106409 = 59.47 Stg. Shipping is expensive and delivered by Fedex

http://www.expansys.ie/product.asp?code=106409 = 52.63 Stg. Shipping is €6 by Airsure

But the T630 costs €543.50 on the .ie site and costs €513.53 if you order from the uk site. All figures include post and packaging charges and I used www.xe.com for current exchange rates.

Let us know what reply from expansys says. I'm sure we would all like to hear their excuse.

And the moral of the story is.... check both sites to see which is cheaper or emigrate!

just in case anybody is still on this thread ...?

I've just got a Z600 on vodafone ....my advice to anyone is dont ....if you have a credit card get one SIM free or better still a t630 ...the vodafone onboard software is a pain in the ars€ ...it constantly wants to do the vodafone live! (evil backwards) thing and at €149 + a 12mth contract at €30per mth its the same as buying SIM free

the camera function is very good and the vodafone.ie e-mail & gprs works ...but it is almost twice as thick as t68i "...is that a z600 in yer pocket or ...."

has anybody managed to have the vodafone crap taken off a Z600 or know anyone that has ????

i'll probably get it unlocked and swap it for something else soon

hurrumphhhh

I got my Z600 unlocked by calling vodafone customer services and telling them I needed to use a card from another country in my phone while aborad and that I was still going to honour my contract with them. They gave me the unlock code there and then over the phone. I still havn't managed to get my phone flashed though, I tried a few places in Ireland and noone could do it. I am in Switzerland now so if I get the chance I am going to try and get it flashed here.

Has anyone checked out the legality of what vodafone does. I mean we contracted to buy a Sony Ericsson phone not a vodafone piece of S**T.

Dave

my t610 is now crap. I want a k700. Its apparently being launched in Q2 of 2004. I guess that means the middle or end of 2005 before it comes out here. Me thinks ill buy off the net to have it early.
