yeh, ok, thanks for the info, i'm not sure what to do now, wether to get one online,

£40 + (50 x 4) + (10 x 8 ) + (12 x 5) insurnace.. = £380

or from orange, 200 + 50 + (11 x 10) + (12 x 5) = £420

But ifi get it off orange i can have one now.... although i think alot of stores are out of stock..

The HS data plan seems to be the odd one out, as far as inclusive care goes. I believe that if you're a business customer, you get care included with any of the proper Orange plans. Any customer gets care included on the data plan.

I've had a search though usenet, and this thread seems to be relevant:
http://tinyurl.com/6zk7

I've had a look through the orange website too, and here is the page that says Care is included:
http://www.orange.co.uk/talkplans/hscsd/index.html
"Every Orange High Speed Data Plan includes Orange Care†, so you can protect your phone against, loss, theft and damage.Terms apply."
"† Orange Care excludes Smart phones such as the Nokia 9210e and the Trium Mondo, for which Care can be purchased."

Now, does anyone know if the P800 is a "smartphone" as far as orange care is concerned? The 7650 isn't a smartphone.

Cheers
Andy

cotton wool bud dipped in nailvarnish remover (Boots own brand, if you need to know! )

Then just constant rubbing in the middle of the logo until it starts to come away. It does take longer than you'd think, and at first it looks like it's doing nothing to the logo - but after 5-10 minutes, you'll have almost all of it off. Worked for me, worked for many other people i've spoken to, too. I think the trick is to keep going, some people give up too easily.

I just wanted to add to this thread that i went into the Orange shop today to have a look at the phone and check if they had any promotions. I found nothing special, other than the regular info that everyone knows:
199 pounds
minimum 55 pound plan

However i did ask her if the shop would claw me back if i changed the tariff. She said they probably would, when i asked her how long I would have to wait she said 2 months. Now...did she know what she was talking about?? Is it different from shop to shop?? I read that the terms were the same Nationwide. Or maybe it is proof that Orange shop has no real way to claw back given the "lack" of mention about the minimum time before a change of tariff. I mean i'm sure the employees know that they will lose on comission but also know about the contract and just try to scare you away from trying to do anything like changing your tariff too soon?? For what it's worth, I will ask her again what the minimum time is, and make sure there is a manager to give it to me in writting if it is less than 4 months. That way if there is a clawback, I will have proof that i was told i wouldn't have to pay the tariff for 4 months.

If you are just looking for the handset and not so concerned
about the extra minutes then the online retailers such as

www.mobilesuk.net

www.avrmobiles.co.uk

www.cyren-communications.co.uk

will cost about £300 a year all in an in some
cases slightly less than that.

Having said that, its only about £25 cheaper than the
Orange Shop if there is no tie in at all.

Certainly there is noting on the Orange Shops literature
about a tie-in.

i know that there is nothing saying that but then u have to wonder how would Orange overlook such an important part of their business i mean imagine if everyone were to do that, they wouldn't have a way of making their money back. Either the handsets come out really cheap and they are not losing money at all or they are willing to opt for not putting in any clause about the matter in the contract because it justifies their "no tie-in" image, which can be seen as an advantage for the consummer.

The truth about this is that it all comes down to the commissions that Orange pay the dealer. For dealers to get paid maximum commission on a new customer, that customer must stay on their chosen tariff, or move upwards, for 4 months. However, Orange (the network) will allow you to change down as soon as you are connected.

Little wonder then, that this is an area of confusion as it doesn't benefit the retailer to tell the truth, and Orange can't advertise this flexibility as a selling point or they would seriously upset their dealers.

I see what u mean...and it makes sense....well all that is left then is if I wanna buy from Orange directly and not be tied for 4 months or buy from a retailer and pay less for the handset initially...mmm decisions, decisions...lol
