So, can we expect 2018 to be like 2014?
Z2 and Z3 were ahead of their time.

I'm wondering if '"Shine" might have something to do with the new Xperia naming convention they will be using. The new Xperia Llumino

According to xpcreg, the trinity of flagships won't arrive until Autumn 2018.
I find it hard to believe there won't be more than one device announced at MWC.

2018 is the year JDI is scheduled to have oled display. It may be that the display will be very good pertaining to the shine or it may be that Sony is scheduled to have a major breakthrough in the optics/camera department. Shine is related to light so maybe this has something to do with the camera. The new camera patents of sony also suggests that this "shine" maybe about a new camera technology.
The microlenses(their new patent) AFAIK will be a major breakthrough as it will be able to allow larger sensor with slimmer modules; Imagine a Nokia PureView 808, 1/1.2" camera in a slim form factor.
Maybe, this camera might be so good in low-light which maybe related to shine.
It also might explainwhy Sony is still holding back on dual-cameras; they might be baking something better.

I think @shino is right.
Very advanced JDI oled and this new camera might be a huge spotlight.
With a new look and I hope a generous battery ( U11+ has 3900 or 4000mAh).

2018 Sony flagship:
name: Xperia pro
announcement: MWC
procesor: Snapdragon 845
ram: 6/128GB
screen: OLED 5.7" 16:9
design: modified omnibalanced with small bezels (80% screen to body ratio)
body: shining chromed metal frame
camera: imx400 with 1.8 aperturÄ™
Easy, that's only my guess based on previous rumours etc. ;)

@XperiaJunkie did you happen to see any smart wear devices (smartwatch, smartband etc) from Sony for 2018? |

It was posted by josephnero and you can find it on first page of this thread (first post).
edit:
Rumour doesn't say it will be "Xperia pro", but what name would be more "pro"? I hope it's not "Xperia performance pro" or smth like that.

I really hope they don't start changing the naming convention AGAIN.
It's bad enough with the ones they have now. It's confusing for fans like us, let alone first time consumers looking to buy one. Personally, I think they should still with "XZ" as their flagship and just iterate it like everyone else. "Premium" should make it the top of the line, "Ultra" makes it XL and "compact" makes it small.
Really doubt Sony will do 6GB/128GB. More likely for them to stay at 4GB/64GB. They've never been one to follow the rest with the memory spec increase. They seem fairly confident (and should be) that their software optimization doesn't require it. You could argue that consumers want to see it and it's true, but that's never been Sony's way.
The rest are good guesses and i hope it's all true!

Bad news Moogoo. There's a new naming scheme coming. BTW 6GB will be on pro model not the normal flagship |

Personally, I think new name should one alphabet mix one number for easy to remember and not too confuse
or unique name same as old SE models mix one number...

Not sure if I understood but seems like this " Pro" would be the next Premium.
Because it would be weird a phone 6/128 GB in february then the 4K HDR 6 months later. |
