They are really working hard

What are you on about? The S5 has the same CPU and it's running at a faster clock, 2.5GHz vs 2.3GHz in the Z2. What the Z2 has over is the RAM though 2GB vs 3GB in Z2.

actually ive read that the S5 is using overclocked S800 and Sony is using S801 which has a higher potential cpu clock, gpu clock, new eMMC 5.0 support and faster memory bus speed. a small bump, but a bump none the less.

From AnandTech:
Every year Samsung launches a new Galaxy S flagship smartphone, and as always, Samsung puts the best platform that can be bought in their devices. The Galaxy S5 is no exception, as the MSM8974AC, or Snapdragon 801, powers the Galaxy S5. The 8974AC is the 2.45 GHz bin of the MSM8974AB, a slightly massaged MSM8974 that first launched with the LG G2 and other devices in the summer of 2013. As a recap, the MSM8974AB increases the clock speed of the Hexagon DSP to 465 MHz from 320 MHz, and the LPDDR3 RAM clocks go from 800 MHz to 933 MHz. What really matters though, is that GPU goes from 450 MHz to 578 MHz from 8974 to 8974AC.

@Spinz

Even the Press kit says it's 801.. but the whitepaper says it's AB not AC

AnandTech says 801 is only AC... standard SoC and AB are 800

would be much clearer.

On Snapdragon 800 we've lower binned (2.16GHz) and higher binned (2.26GHz)
Could that be Snapdragon 801 mean AB = lower binned (2.26GHz) and higher binned (2.45GHz)?

There's still some confusion regarding the SoC...

The press release mentions the chipset as Snapdragon 801, while the whitepaper mentions AB, the clockspeed makes it AB not AC...

AnandTech.com says that 801 should be AC not AB, is there's a possibility that 801 has two versions ?

Some clarity - in particular to the 805 used by Samsung. Pay particular attention to top clock performance.

The Snapdragon 801 was announced on February 24, 2014.[235] It designed to be a higher clocked variant of the Snapdragon 800, it also adds eMMC 5.0 support allowing transfer rates of up to 400MB/s.
