I hope its true !
But, im not keen on the design. I don't like that circular camera island. Also, its thin, which makes me worry it'll be lesser megapixels than the 808. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bridge device between the 808 camera and the true WP variant.

Yes,well as I previously said I think the real WP variant with true Pureview will come when the next Microsoft updates arrive GDR2/GDR3 updates for the OS. These will bring new improvements and features. Nokia Lumia phones always seem very stylish and colourful but this one is a bit fugly on the back, more industrial.

SE made a couple of phones with circular camera islands and I didn't like them back then. I really prefer the mock up from page one of this thread.
Anyway nothing is final just yet.

There must be a reason behind the circle.. there is too much empty space on it.
Also, before buying the EOS, I would wait and see what Sony have in store with the Honami. |

Announcement. The front of the EOS looks like a cross between Lumia's 800 & my model the 720 with only the front camera on the left rather than the right and has same curved glass.

FUDGE!! I just created a new thread specifically for this leak
Oh well, my mistake. I'm guessing the quad core model will be best for future proofing due to the upcoming WP8.x or 9 whatever they call it. I'm not a fan of the strange untimely update of the tiles (it seems way too random to me and they all change on their own so your eyes do the funky twitch to catch them; I'm no spring chicken no matter how young I look for 4 - 0).
Looking forward to a metal hardware - the 925 gives me some hope, its very close to the HTC One in my mind only of course, but I want no compromises in my next hardware and the OS has to match that - no more excuses.

Wonder how many lenses this may have?? The 925 is the first phone to have 6 lenses 5 plastic & one glass. Some have already said the images are a big improvement over the 920. Plus the new software and slimmer design so the 925 is not to be shrugged off. The EOS I would still buy one for the top camera I won't cry if the back is a bit retro looking
This one was not too ugly

They are presenting on the 11th next month.
It seems like they will be pushing the zoom from the 808 as "new" technology, which makes sense... most people don't even know that the 808 exists.
For those of you who still don't know how it all works:
The zoom "crop" tech in the 808 is directly related to the mpix count you want to use.. the larger the picture, the less zoom you have at your disposal.
The most important aspect of this is that.. you have no movable parts, and the aperture stays fixed throughout the zoom range. With the gs4 zoom, the more you zoom, the less light is reaching the sensor, which leads to IQ degradation..
Also, when the Phase 1 system crops, it does so from the middle of the frame, so you get absolutely no softness around the edges of the frame, which you will with a complex lens design such as the one on the gs4 zoom.
The good thing about an optical zoom is that you can achieve "bokeh" (blurred background) when you zoom in on a bigger object, with the 808 crop/zoom... you don't get that.
Example, this is at max zoom (3x) on the 808
With the gs4 zoom you might be able to blur the background. In this case.. its okay that it isn't, but in most cases you would want it to be. Also, note that its sharp from end to end..

No thanks, Sony haven't had a decent camera in a phone in years.

If you want a phone with a great quality camera there are only 3 ways to go: Nokia, Samsung and Apple. Really down to what OS you want and how much of a priority the Camera is to you.

The problem with Sony is their image processing is crap. They provide their sensors to Samsung,Apple but they utilize the processing better. Apparently in future phones Sony is going to introduce their BIONZ processing which is better but we will have to wait and see. Nokia,Samsung and Apple yes have the best right now. HTC have never really made a decent camera still.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised .. the hardware alone in the Honami would put it way ahead of anything they've done so far, and even if they mess up the jpeg processing, they have a great hardware base to work from.. so it will get better and better with updates.
Remember that the sensor will be bigger than the one in the N8..
My only concern is the lens.. but.. we will see.
I expect the Honami to act like a mini RX100. |
