I've just taken my free upgrade from 3UK. The phone will be delivered on the 5th of April, 500 mins/texts, 2.5GB data, free phone on an 18 month contract for £27 a month. It was £21 on a 24 month contract.

Sounds like a good deal to me, especially as you get the phone for free. I dont know what 3 are like in Liverpool, but down here in Kent they are not so good (Signal very dodgy).
I'm still undecided as to whether to get this phone or not, but if i do, i will almost definitely get the White version which is exlcusive to o2. |

That's my predicament.
3UK is fantastic where I am. I regularly get around 3Meg download speeds but I'm really after the white version and / or the Xperia Arc. I think the camera, although only 5MP, won't be too terrible but I guess there is so much more entertainment value with the Play.
I will probably unlock it and sell it for the beautiful white version and get the Arc after trading in my white X10.
The White version will only be exclusive on O2 in the UK so I'm guessing it will be available on say German Ebay or something.
For gadget value, it's right up there and it just adds that extra dimension to the gaming side of things.

Well thats definitely a good deal then if 3UK has good coverage where you are.
I think I will end up getting the Play, but like you am worried about 5mp camera (I have Satio at the moment so going from 12 to 5mp does bother me). Also, if they want this to rival the iphone, you would think they would at least match the specs e.g. video record resolution, i was really hoping for 720p. But i suppose if they gave the Play all of the features that the Arc has, then what we be the point in making the Arc...
But like you said, i'm trying to weigh up whether having the gaming controls will compensate for not having the other things. I wish would just make 1 high end phone that has all the features instead of having four different phones which leaves me having to choose between different features , just put all of the good features on 1 phone! my ideal situation would be a mix of Arc and Play, but instead i have to choose between the two.

I can't keep up. goldenface, I thought you'd decided on the ARC... or are you now going for both?

Hi masseur. Well I'm getting the Play free with my contract but I'm taken by the high end features of the Arc.
My brother works in carphonewarehouse so he can get 30% off the sim free cost of the Arc and if I trade in my white X10 it shouldn't hurt too much
I think really, I'll wait to see how my experience with the Play goes and if I'm satisfied with it who knows.

This is the run up to the huge marketing campaign they're talking about. I've yet to see the initial super-bowl ad on TV in the UK.
