SE will loose SERIOUS market share as soon as Nokia releases the N8-00. The Satio is totally out of its league when compared to this new 12mp camera phone.

Take it from me, coming from a Nokia N82 .. Nokia, like SE, have been hurting .. BUT Nokia knows when they sell a "flagship phone" they need to ensure their customers stay loyal - my N82 had incurred 5 big FW releases until a very stable robust FW was finally attained.. something that the SE Satio can not say.

My 2 cents - if SE doesn't release a FW (with bug fixes & enhancements) by August 24, I'm dumping SE for good and going back to Nokia .. My N82 was rock solid totally free of bugs and took excellent pictures ..

I personnaly dont see a point in arguing about what SE could or couldnt do, what they could or couldnt give above what came on release . The basic fact is this WAS a flagship phone and should be given support, like other phones , end of story.
If SE plan to sell a handset and then walk away, going a different route to other manufacturers , then its simple, lets move to someone else. I know I will.

What they did do, central to the whole argument, is design an excellent phone. The latest firmware is stable and does all the things that the handset was claimed to do when you bought it. If you don't like it buy another phone, otherwise suck it up and enjoy the Satio for what it is: a typical SE handset with good ergonomics, elegant design and a raft of high end features.

You don't buy a phone based on what future firmware updates may or may not provide. You buy it for what it can do at the time of purchase. Firmware upgrades are designed to manage bugs that become evident in the early life of the handset, not to keep updating the phone's feature's ad infinitum.

huh? I bought into this flagship phone because I wanted an accurate, efficient phone that could do basic things awesomely and then some. I do agree that it's hardware is very well designed but the software is just plain shiiiiiiit. I paid a premium price for clear conversations (failed), actually every call I make isn't clear even with full reception. I paid a premium for a phone that won't allow me to call or end calls, end my calls for no reason, and not restart my phone for me out of the blue.

I can name numberous issues with the phone but you can check the petition for all of those flaws.

Simply put, Satio was pushed out to the market too fast (hello Christmas). It could've been a great phone but it was a flawed product at first launch, it was a flawed product after its first update and second update and third update.

What I want is for SE to make things right, I don't even care about apps anymore because I know it is unrealistic to want great apps like the iphone has but it IS realistic to give us some of the things we asked for.

SE isn't even giving us a straight answer if there is even going to be an update or not, it is just hush hush for them. Some may argue that SE gave us a decent product and we don't NEED any more updates but something that is just WRONG about this picture is that SE is being completely quiet and not communicating with us, even on their own feedback forum where they promise that people are listening and to hold on for future announcements. WTF?

i really dont know why kinetic scrolling is bugging you as i used it in the 5230 and it was super. How the hell can you search the 1500 media on the phone with no kinetic scrolling? sometimes i stop browsing and the song i am looking for is right off the screen. Dragging the bar a bit (when 1500files are browsed) makes it jump about 10-20 songs.. the 5230 has nice kinetic scrolling and a sidebar, that works fine. So use the bar if you dont like the scrolling. Bar for big jumps - then with kinetic simply "fine search" up/down 5-10 songs.. what can be more simple?

I called the SE USA help desk and spoke to a customer service rep, and he was very knowledgeable. He said that he confirms there WILL be a Satio firmware release after R2AK006 released in mid to late August. He told me to hold tight, they understand the issues and are working on releasing an updated firmware.

Don't get your hopes up guys, I won't believe it until I see it as an SE PR announcement or from the major tech news sites like gizmodo, engadget, etc...

Remember the Malaysia announcement that we'd have an update by August? then everybody celebrated and sighed relief for a few days and SE formally shut us down with "There will be NO updates in August" now suddenly there are updates in August.

I have a feeling the internal communications of SE is just as bad as the communication they have with their consumers.

You guys ever curious why they are so quiet on the SE feedback forums? The only reason people are quiet is because they have nothing to share.

big FAIL.

sorry to be a negative nancy but I'm just calling it as I see it and I'm not getting BS'd by SE anymore.

My previous primary phone is a N82, still the best camera phone ever made, stable, excellent build, more camera function than any SE phone even more than the K800i.

The current Satio's interface simply suck, that bloody music player pops up by itself time after time.

All these small bugs can be fixed, yet they never do it. I am looking to get N8-00 as soon as i can get them via good channels!

Heres my personal update for the Satio:

Sometimes I'm locked out of my own voicemail and it asks me to enter my password when I never set one up. If I'm lucky, I can access my voicemail and actually listen to messages!

This never happened with my older phones on the same account.

Oh and when I'm not allowed to make calls sometimes. It literally says call not allowed.

wow SE...just wow...

I do use the scrollbar, but on the Samsung i8910 atleast, kinetic scrolling is too sensitive and goes flying off when I'm still looking at an image and tilt the phone a little. A want to be able to use precise finger movements to control it, not suddenly flying off at the slightest hand movement. But hey if it works for you I'm not knocking it. Just don't see it as a major ommission for a flagship handset released when Satio was. Not something to be pissed about, just it is what it is.

Hey, native avi support for divx would be nice, but there are ways around it. It's a smartphone, that's the beauty of it. The volume control disabled when locked is a disappointment though. But these are only the two main flaws with the Satio. Every flagship phone on the market is missing something, it's no great crime.

btw, scrolling media is fast, I have 8GB of music probably around 2-3000 tracks. If you swipe firmly upwards, then stop and hold at the top of the screen, the list will scroll quickly until you remove your finger. It'll go through the whole collection rather quickly. Kinetic scrolling is a want for some people, but it's not needed - the handset is still just as usable without it.

from where I'm sitting, they achieved that goal. No problems with slowness other than the same you'd get on any s60 device, but it's more stable yet than any s60 device I've owned. I can't say it's ever crashed on me, other than when I've had to restart manually to close some piece of crap software whose task can't be killed off in activefile.

Most people I've come across with the satio are happy with it.

Anyway guys, I wish you luck with your phones, but I'm not convinced that the majority of handsets are fault ridden. After you put aside unrealistic user preferance complaints, and crashing handsets (which should just be returned under warranty imho - if it can't be fixed by the latest firmware, which is stable, demand a new handset), the vast majority of handsets are working as designed.

My friend just got the Samsung Galaxy S and let me say that it puts my Satio to shame, then throws a blanket over it and proceeds to beat it down with a spiky metal rod. The tech and even just the android app store alone (in free quality apps) puts shame to SE, Satio and playnowarena.

The Satio, and even the Xperia x10 can't even come close to the greatness that the Galaxy achieves. It is very sad, very sad indeed.

If it wasn't for the camera and xenon flash, I'd really want to throw this phone against a brick wall...

Well, comparing Android and s60 really comes down to user preference - they are both capable phone operating systems.

True the Android Market and the Apple Appstore are way ahead of ovi or playnow, but there is so much software available for s60 it's not hard to find what you need using google, who needs an app store?

Personally I don't love android. It shares too many similiarities to iphone, but not as stable. I respect it's open source nature, and I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun hacking my garmin-asus 'droid. However it's not my first choice as a phone os. That would be windows mobile for touchscreen (with s60 in second place - or atleast the Satio rendition of s60) and SE A200 for non-touchscreen phones.

If Satio ran Windows Mobile, that would be my perfect phone

As it is it's still pretty damn good.

A little unfair, when you consider the galaxy s was released a month ago, the Satio in October 2009 (and the release was late). Even then the only difference in spec is the HD recording, Screen resolution, "n" (draft) wifi, native divx support, bluetooth 3.0 and multitouch. All features that have only started to become common on flagship handsets since after the satio was released. None of those with the exception of divx support are possible through firmware updates alone.

Multi-touch is an interesting one, standard to Android 2.1 but also Samsung have cracked a version for Windows Mobile as well! S60 doesn't have it yet imho. I can live without it.

Maybe you should buy the galaxy s and donate your Satio to the blendtec guys....I imagine that would be a satisfying feeling since Satio is giving you a heap of grief
iPhone will it blend?

i suggest to all unhappy satio users, don't throw away your satio but keep it clean dust free scratch free until N8 was released then you can sell your satio for high price hehe! then buy N8

forget about satio,SE lost their interest on Symbian and focus on android.

move on!!!
